The Circular Supply Chain Coalition (CSCC), launched by Pyxera Global earlier this year, has received a Clinton Global Initiative Commitment to Action! This commitment will enable us to build more equitable and resilient supply chains by transforming how critical materials are sourced, reused, and reintegrated into the economy. https://lnkd.in/eERCGzAA With primary funding from FedEx and support from organizations including Metabolic, Circularity Consulting, Sustain Our Future, The First Mile, Virginia Commonwealth University, and Circular Electronics Partnership, the CSCC will: ?? Develop sustainable sourcing and recovery systems that reduce the environmental impact of critical materials. ?? Create new pathways for #remanufacturing and job creation to strengthen local communities. ?? Integrate circular practices into global supply chains that drive equitable social, economic, and environmental outcomes. The large-scale implementation of this program will involve small businesses and social enterprises working together within the electronics supply chain through an integration model: some will handle dismantling, others will manage repairs, and some will focus on reuse. We will coordinate them so that they are co-opted together. We are thrilled to announce the launch of the Circular Supply Chain Coalition (CSCC), a groundbreaking initiative spearheaded by Pyxera Global, alongside several visionary partners. Officially launched last week at #Circularity24, the CSCC aims to revolutionize the U.S. supply chain by "mining" discarded consumer electronics for critical minerals essential for new technology. Why is this important? Electronic goods—from smartphones to wind turbines—rely heavily on rare earth elements such as lithium, nickel, and cobalt. With global demand for these minerals expected to quadruple by 2040, traditional mining is no longer sustainable. Enter urban mining: tapping into the 8 million tons of e-waste Americans discard each year. Our mission is to create a robust network of local hubs for recycling and upcycling e-waste, generating green jobs in underserved communities.
