Bipartisan Bill Aims to Spur a $14 Billion Domestic Circular Economy In an unprecedented move of unity, Republicans and Democrats have come together to introduce a groundbreaking bill that could revolutionize the U.S. textile industry. ?? The Americas Act, co-sponsored by Sens. Bill Cassidy (R-La.) and Michael Bennet (D-Colo.), proposes a substantial $14 billion investment to foster a domestic circular economy. This initiative is not just about economic growth; it's about sustainability and taking a stand against the environmental impact of textile waste. ?? Here's what the bill includes: $10 billion in preferential loans for textile reuse and recycling $3 billion in grants for manufacturing support programs $1 billion for R&D in textile use and recycling $100 million for public education on the circular economy The focus is clear: reshoring manufacturing, incentivizing businesses through tax reductions, and competing globally while creating sustainable solutions. ????
