As the saying goes, there is more than one way to crack a nut—similarly, there are several strategies to adopting circular procurement. During the #CircularProcurementBreakfastWorkshop organised by the Circular Business Platform and PwC Nigeria on Nov 1st, 2024, the following focus areas were identified for circular business to drive circular procurement: ?????????? ????????????????????????: Ensure products retain their value through multiple life cycles. ???????????????? ????????????????????: Optimise the use of resources throughout the product life cycle. ?????????? ??????????????????: Design out waste by reusing, remanufacturing, and recycling materials. ???????????????????????????? ???? ??????????????????: Use materials that are renewable, recyclable, or biodegradable. ?????????????? ?????????????????? ?????? ??????????????: Focus on products that are durable, repairable, upgradable, and meet quality standards. These will enable individuals, organisations, and institutions to practise circular procurement. Now let’s hear from you, as individuals, organisations, and institutions, how do you practise circular procurement? #CBP #PWCNigeria #CircularProcurementBreakfastWorkshop #CircularEvents

?????? ?? ???????????????? ???????????? ?????????????? ?????????????? ?????? ?????????????????? ?????????????????????? ?????????????? ?????? ??????????????????????? The answer is obvious—no. That’s the critical role green jobs play in advancing the global movement toward a circular economy and sustainability. Green jobs are positions that contribute to environmental sustainability and economic resilience. These roles span various industries—agriculture, waste management, food, fashion, and more. For Nigeria to transition into a circular economy, empowering individuals with relevant skills and creating opportunities for practice is crucial. Stakeholders must rise to this challenge. This was the focus of the Inspired Youth Network’s Policy Dialogue on Green Jobs held on November 14th 2024. Representing our ecosystem, Circular Business Platform team member, Obaloluwa Dairo served as a panellist, sharing insights with youth at the event. ?? See more details about the event in the repost! #CBP #CircularEvents #GreenJobs
I had the privilege of joining the Inspired Youth Network's policy dialogue on Green Jobs last Thursday. As a panelist, I emphasized that Green Jobs encompass all professions prioritizing environmental protection and responsibility. With the growing demand for sustainable business models, opportunities in the green and circular economy are expanding. However, this growth also reveals a pressing challenge: skill gaps among young jobseekers. As part of our efforts to address this, I introduced our Circular Oasis Community, a circular talent development pipeline at CEIP | Circular Economy Innovation Partnership. This initiative, led by my colleague Deborah Edward aims to equip young talents with the skills needed to thrive in the green and circular economy. I firmly believe that young people must strive to be their best selves to capitalize on the abundant opportunities. It was wonderful connecting with Sunday Sholanke, Senami Anko, Oreoluwa Fawole, O. Sunday Bamsa, Suliyat Oguns and Mujeeb Opeyemi Muraina, among others. Kudos to Oluwatoyin Adejokun and her team for organizing a fantastic event! #GreenJobs #CircularEconomy #Sustainability #YouthEmpowerment #TalentDevelopment

Lately, we have been engaged in promoting circular procurement within organisations. Our most recent event, the ???????????????? ?????????????????????? ?????????????????? ???????????????? in partnership with PwC Nigeria , is a testament to this effort. At the Circular Business Platform, we believe that embracing circular procurement can ignite a wave of circular entrepreneurship across Nigeria, paving the way for a truly circular economy nation. Below are parameters for a strong circular procurement approach. With these in place, circular procurement could become the standard for organisations. Do you agree with our thoughts? #CBP #PWCNigeria #CircularProcurementBreakfastWorkshop #CircularEvents

The first day of November kicked off with the Circular Business Platform and PwC Nigeria hosting a #CircularProcurementBreakfastWorkshop to encourage organisations across Nigeria to integrate circular procurement into their processes, operations, and strategies. It has been exactly two weeks and while we cannot turn back the hands of time to relive the memories of the event, today offers us another chance to share with our community some highlights from the one-day workshop. We hope this event serves as a catalyst to address the numerous challenges hindering circular procurement in Nigeria. These include a mismatch between supply and demand for circular products, inadequate policy formulation and implementation and a macroeconomic environment that does not fully support pro-environmental consumer behaviour. Swipe through to see your favourite faces in the circular economy space who attended the event! A coin has two sides for a reason - each side complements the other. This is the same way in business; there is theory and practice and none is to be neglected, rather a synergy is needed. On 18th, November 2024, the Circular Entrepreneurship Peer Learning Platform will be hosting the first ?????????????????? ?????????????? featuring a Fireside Chat on the topic: “?????? ?????????? ???? ?????????????? ???????????????? ???????????????????????? ???? ?????????? ????????????????”. ??????? The Circular Entrepreneurship Peer Learning Community believes that linking research institutions to practical industry is key to closing the synergy gap between business theory and practice in Nigeria. This linkage will pave the way for a stronger, more resilient local business landscape and also advance a functional Circular Entrepreneurship in Nigeria, one of CEPLP's core ambitions. Are you an organisation that, while tidying up its 2024 Report, realised it did not make the laudable ESG impacts it hoped for this year? Is your organisation always seeking ways to incorporate sustainability as a core culture? Are you uncertain about how to promote circular economy practices within your organisation? One of the key solutions to these challenges is Circular Procurement. Organisations looking to improve their ESG impacts and benefit from the culture of circular procurement should consider adopting it in their processes, operations, and strategy. ???????? ???? ???????????????? ??????????????????????? Circular Procurement is the purchase of goods and services designed to minimise waste, maximise resource efficiency and support a circular economy. It involves considering the entire lifecycle of products, from design to disposal, ensuring they can be reused, repaired, or recycled. At the recent #CircularProcurementBreakfastWorkshop organised by the Circular Business Platform and PwC Nigeria , held on November 1st in Lagos, organisations across Nigeria were encouraged to adopt circular procurement practices. At a time when the need for circular business development and entrepreneurship is gaining traction, #CIRCOHubNigeria has been launched to address this need. Circular entrepreneurship not only drives businesses to deliver social, economic, and environmental benefits, but it also offers Nigeria a pathway to revitalise its economy, which recently slipped to the fourth-largest in Africa. A circular economy presents a billion-dollar opportunity for Africa, including Nigeria, by creating avenues for economic growth, job and value creation, skills development, and community empowerment. With #CIRCOHubNigeria, more Nigerian businesses can be inspired to transition towards a circular business model, unlocking sustainable growth and impact.
