This week, we’re shining a light on Hunger and Homelessness Awareness Week—a time to reflect on the challenges faced by individuals experiencing homelessness in Maricopa County. Trauma leaves more than emotional scars. For those without stable housing, it often leads to mental health conditions and maladaptive coping mechanisms, creating barriers for healing and stability. At Circle the City, our Mental Health Street Medicine Team focuses on bringing compassionate care directly to those in need—offering mental health support, building trust, and paving a path to hope and healing. Together, we can create lasting change.? #HungerAndHomelessnessAwarenessWeek #Circlethecity #Homeless #Maricopacounty

A startling reality: Nearly 1 in 4 individuals tested at our STI Clinic is diagnosed with Hepatitis C. This isn’t just a statistic—it’s a call to action. Hepatitis C often goes undetected, silently putting individuals at risk for liver damage, cancer, and unknowingly transmitting the virus to others. Through regular testing at our clinic, we’re changing this narrative. Early detection = prevention + treatment. By catching these cases early: ??Individuals can access lifesaving and potentially curative care. ??We reduce the spread of the virus in the community. ??Future risks, like liver cancer, are mitigated before they begin. At Circle the City, our approach combines compassionate care with innovation. We're tackling this public health challenge head-on by offering free Hepatitis C screenings alongside other vital sexual health services. ????STI Clinic Details: When: Thursdays, 8 AM – Noon Where: Downtown Family Health Center, Phoenix, AZ Hepatitis C is preventable. It’s treatable. And with community-wide efforts, it’s a problem we can solve. Let’s take action—together. Back row: Luis Hernandez, Elijah Seidman, & Dr William Ellert. Last week, Circle the City had the honor of hosting a captivating lecture by National Geographic Explorer, Nalini Nadkarni, renowned tree ecologist. In collaboration with the Mesa Arts Center, Nadkarni's lecture was the first of a series of inspiring programs. Nalini is a tree ecologist, and her work focuses on the vital role trees play in our ecosystem. With a passion for bridging science and community, she travels to various communities such as prisons, senior centers, and schools, spending her time connecting with the community. We were grateful to welcome her to the Midtown Medical Respite Center, creating a space for our patients and staff to connect with the wonders of the natural world. Heartfelt thanks to everyone who made this event possible. We’re excited to bring more opportunities like this to our Circle the City in the future. #phoenixnonprofit #Homelessness
