“When women support each other, incredible things happen.” At Circle de Luz, we witness the power of sisterhood every day—our students, mentors, and leaders uplifting one another and shaping a future filled with possibility. Today, we celebrate our beautiful community, the strength of women supporting women, and the dreams we bring to life together. A toast to mujeres—past, present, and future. May we continue to rise, inspire, and shine. #internationalwomensday??

A non-profit organization that empowers young Latinas through extensive mentoring, holistic programs & scholarship funds
关于我们
Circle de Luz is a Charlotte-based non-profit organization that has a significant impact on Latino youth. We offer crucial support to an under-resourced population through programming, mentoring and scholarship funds Each year we choose a new class of approximately eight Latina students in seventh grade and mentor them through their graduation from high school. No other youth development or educational program in our area spends six years with its members in such a comprehensive way. During those six years we provide our girls and their families with nearly 55 annual program experiences. These programs are inspired by our developmental model which covers three core themes: Academic Support and College Readiness, Personal Development, and Community Awareness & Engagement. Circle de Luz’s mission is based on the notion that broadening our girls’ horizons will help develop new goals and skills and result in increased self-confidence as they tackle new lifestyles and challenges. As their confidence blossoms, it becomes easier for them to dream of a life filled with opportunities that once felt out of reach. They have many obstacles to overcome, but over the six years of respectful partnership with their families and carefully crafted group and individual mentoring, Circle de Luz has made great strides in proving to our program members that the future is wide open to them.

?? Program & Partner Spotlight ?? This month, our Class of 2028 experienced their first college tour thanks to the Latin Americans Working for Achievement High School Series! In addition to visiting and touring the Wingate University campus, our students learned about different career paths within the health sciences field and heard from directly from current Wingate students about their experiences and recommendations. With this cohort quickly approaching the end of their first year of high school, the chance to learn about and consider different pathways for the future is especially important. Thank you LAWA for providing these opportunities! #empoweringlatinas #latinasincharlotte #volunteercharlotte #charlottenonprofit #charlottenc #charlottescholarships #youthmentoring

??Programming Spotlight ?? Our students started the new year off strong thanks to Rosanny Crumpton, NBC-HWC ?? Rosy led our middle school and high school cohorts through engaging discussions and exercises centered around how our daily habits impact our overall wellbeing. In their work with Rosy, students reflected on their phone use and relationship with social media, evaluated how the content they consume impacts their mental health, and learned strategies for stepping away when a habit has a negative effect on their wellbeing. #circledeluz #charlottenonprofit #educationnonprofit #volunteercharlotte #latinasincharlotte #empoweringlatinas

Our team was delighted to participate in this powerful learning and collaboration day! Thank you, Crescent Coalition, and all partners who made the summit possible.
The first-ever Crescent Coalition Leadership Summit is in the books! This enriching day brought together?leaders, professionals, and passionate advocates from across the coalition to engage in?meaningful conversation, build community, and?collaborate on shaping the future of education and college readiness. United by a shared mission to improve Charlotte’s economic mobility through enhancing pathways for college and career success, this year’s summit provided a vibrant space for discussing critical challenges and opportunities in education, ultimately strengthening our ability to support students in Charlotte and beyond. ???? Throughout the day, attendees participated in engaging group discussions, thought-provoking panels, and hands-on workshops, all centered around pivotal educational topics. From easing students’ transitions from middle school to high school to guiding them from college to their careers, each conversation provided valuable takeaways. We also delved into the complexities of the FAFSA application process and the broader landscape of financial aid, offering tools and advice to help students and families navigate these essential steps. A special thank you to George Metz, Jr. for being this year’s keynote speaker and sharing powerful insights on how we can maximize value and create opportunities for the next generation of leaders. This event was made possible through the generous support of the Equitable Foundation, this year’s Presenting Sponsor. We would also like to extend our gratitude to the following panelists and facilitators who contributed to the success of the summit: - Alex Lowe Turner and Michelle Norwood, Student U - Allison Pudlik, M.A. and Derrick Everhart, Queens University of Charlotte - Chemere Davis, Microsoft - Jessica Kim and Sydney Gallup, University Career Center at UNC Charlotte - Timitra Hildebrand-Jones (she/her/hers), Albemarle Corporation Together, we’ve built a strong foundation for a brighter tomorrow, and we’re excited to continue our work in transforming and empowering the future of education. ?? #CrescentCoalition #Charlotte #UpwardMobility #EconomicMobility
