FastCo Most Innovative + Certified B Corp + Earthshot Prize Finalist ?? Protecting the planet from the cost of clothing
关于我们
2023 Earthshot Prize Finalist on a mission to protect the planet from the cost of clothing. At Circ, we’ve created a technology system that returns clothes to the raw materials from which they were made. Again and again. Brand partners like Patagonia, Marubeni, and Fashion For Good are joining us in our goal of turning wasteful fashion lines into renewable fashion circles. By 2030, we expect to have recycled 10 billion garments, represent 10% of the global apparel market, and to have saved more than 100 million trees. As our ecology and economy grow evermore entwined, it is clear to us that the world already has all the clothing it needs to create all the clothing it will ever need. Join us in threading together the future of circular fashion and eliminating our collective fashion footprint.

??We’re a BloombergNEF Pioneers Competition finalist?? To protect the planet from the cost of clothing, Circ? continues to pioneer a new way to recycle clothing, separating polycotton blends to recover like-new polyester and cotton fibers, which can be spun into high-quality, just-like-new fibers that fashion brands can use to create new clothing. The BloombergNEF Pioneers Competition celebrates innovation that’s leading the way to a worldwide sustainable, net-zero economy, and we couldn’t be prouder to be alongside other finalists like Airthium, AtmosZero, EverDye, Rondo Energy, and Werewool who are doing everything in their power to make the world a safer, healthier place for everyone. Had a great conversation with Lorne Rubis ICD.D Rubis on his new podcast, Culture Talks! We got into all things Circ?—where we are, lessons learned, where we're headed, and how we’ve aligned our team on our deep, deep purpose. We also talked about how mission and purpose are critical in attracting the right talent—people who care deeply about our mission of saving the planet from the cost of clothing. And that’s just the start—we covered so much more. Just listened back, and it’s a solid discussion. A new industry alliance is uniting to push for textile recycling in fashion. The T2T Alliance launched today, bringing together textile recyclers Circ?, Circulose, Syre, and RE&UP Recycling Technologies to advocate for stronger policies and ensure textile-to-textile recyclers’ interests are represented in future textile regulations, particularly in the EU. Right now,?only 0.3% of the fashion industry is truly circular, according to Circle Economy.? Most textiles still end up in landfills or incinerators, making large-scale textile recycling a critical missing piece in the sustainability puzzle.?The alliance is pushing for a?closed-loop recycling system—including post-industrial, pre-consumer, and post-consumer waste—that could finally move the industry toward real circularity. The group has already provided input on the European Commission’s latest report on eco-design, advocating for the inclusion of recycled content and recyclability as core requirements in textile production. We’ll break it all down in this week's news recap—what this means, what’s next, and why it matters.?Make sure you're subscribed so you don’t miss it. // Keeping up with sustainable fashion can be overwhelming. With endless updates, reports, and notifications, it’s hard to know what matters most. That’s why we created?Week/End—a weekly newsletter designed to save you time, keep you up-to-date, and help you stay ahead in this fast-changing industry— without the overwhelm. No endless scrolling, no juggling multiple sources—just one streamlined email, delivered straight to your inbox every week/end. ?? https://lnkd.in/gXrsqnmM

The time for transformative change is now. With escalating waste challenges and evolving industry ambitions, Circ? is proud to be united with leaders in scalable recycling technologies to drive immediate, actionable policy reforms. ? We're committed to sharing deep industry insights with policymakers, ensuring that emerging regulations reflect real-world challenges and seize proven solutions to truly enable the scale-up of T2T recycling.
?? Exciting news: The T2T Alliance - Powering Policy for a Textile-to-Textile Future has officially launched today! With the mission to advocate for textile-to-textile (T2T) recyclers in policy decision-making, the #T2TAlliance will act as a #hub for #advocacy, #collaboration, and #jointaction - ensuring T2T recyclers’ interests are not just heard but embedded in future textile policies, in the EU and beyond. This important initiative, spearheaded by leading T2T recyclers Circ?, Circulose, RE&UP Recycling Technologies and Syre,?is driving policy change that supports a thriving and resilient textile industry. ?? The launch comes at a pivotal moment for the sector, with the work in the #EcoDesignForum kicking off and the European Commission’s technical team formulating #ESPR eco-design rules. The T2T Alliance is wasting no time and provided its expert input on the Commission's latest report, which addresses incorporating recycled content and recyclability as core #ecodesign requirements for textile apparel. We advocate for: ?? Promoting #T2T recycled content and #recyclability as core requirements in the ESPR ecodesign requirements for textiles ?? Supporting a #closedloop textile recycling approach which includes post-industrial, pre-consumer and post-consumer waste. ?? #Clarifying misconceptions about the textile recycling industry in the report (for example, by debunking the assumption that allowing post-industrial waste to fulfill recycled content targets would incentivise its overproduction) ?? Advocating for a wide range of #verification methods for #tracing recycled material This is a crucial step forward in creating a more sustainable, circular textile industry ?? #TextileRecycling #Sustainability #CircularTextiles #CircularEconomy #PolicyChange

The Textile Time Machine? Someone recently joked that Circ?’s technology is like a Textile Time Machine. And honestly? They’re not wrong. We don’t just recycle textiles—we rewind them. That old T-shirt? We take it all the way back—before it was fabric, before it was even thread. Our tech breaks down discarded polycotton garments into their original building blocks: Polyester—purified and ready for new textiles. Cotton—preserved as cellulose, ready to be spun into fresh fibers. No downcycling. No shortcuts. Just high-quality materials going back into the supply chain to make new clothes. This is how circular fashion becomes reality.

For the last four years, I’ve worked in the circular textile policy space, but I have never felt the sense of urgency that I do today. The legislative landscape is shifting rapidly, and what happens next will define the future of textile-to-textile recycling. We've celebrated significant milestones, such as: ? Mandatory Extended Producer Responsibility (#EPR) for textiles, driving increased collection, sorting, and recycling across Europe. ? The Ecodesign for Sustainable Products Regulation (#ESPR), set to accelerate the uptake of recycled materials. However, we've also faced challenges, including: ?? Regulatory hurdles within Ecodesign (#ESPR), which risk hindering innovation and scalability for textile-to-textile recycling and traceability. ?? The Waste Framework Directive’s (#WFD) misalignment with the ongoing textile reuse and recycling infrastructure crisis, creating uncertainty for investment and growth. With the Ecodesign deadline approaching on Monday, March 3rd, it's imperative that we, as an industry, unite to provide evidence-based feedback to the Joint Research Centre European Commission. Our collective expertise is crucial to ensure forthcoming policies effectively support the scaling of advanced textile recycling, rather than impose unintended barriers. ?? Stay tuned for more advocacy discussions on scaling circular textile recycling. #TextiletoTextile #TextileRecycling #EPR #Ecodesign #JointResearchCentre #EuropeanCommisssion #PolicyAdvocacy #TextileCircularity #WasteFrameworkDirective #TextileInnovation #Legislation
