We're excited for the SFFILM Festival kicking of this week. Loving this article by Sarah Hotchkiss for KQED highlighting Bay Area Films and Filmmakers. Also, thought this tidbit was really interesting: "Anne Lai SFFILM’s executive director, said Wednesday morning that the new schedule is an experiment in the festival feel and experience. With a more densely packed program, festival goers might bump into each other more often, or take advantage of a neighborhood’s charms without rushing across the width of the city." Yes to more connecting and community around film! What films are you catching this festival? https://lnkd.in/gsT-GkZi

"One of the most important parts of community healing is assisting individuals directly, one-on-one. And a key aspect for those looking to heal themselves? Helping others. This is as true for the world at large as it is for people who are incarcerated. Brenton Gieser’s?documentary film,?The 50, currently streaming on Apple TV and Amazon Prime and?screening at the New Parkway Theatre?in Oakland on April 19, hones in on this idea of mutual assistance by highlighting?California’s Offender Mentor Certificate Program (OMPC)?and a few of the men who’ve gone through it." --- Pendarvis Harshaw for KQED Join us for the screening at The New Parkway Theater and stay for the panel moderated by Cinemama co-director, Niema Jordan.
