Talk about a clean sweep! A fantastic crew of volunteers showed up at Rapid Run Park on Sunday 11/17 for another obLITTERators event and truly nailed it! In just two hours, they managed to haul away: ? 93 bags of litter ? 3 shopping carts ? 1 car bumper ? 3 tires ? 2 three-foot sewage pipes ? 1 microwave ? 1 grill ? 1 stroller This is the kind of community spirit that makes a difference. We’re incredibly thankful to all the volunteers who rolled up their sleeves and showed up for a cleaner Rapid Run Park. This National Hiking Day, we are thrilled to announce the return of the Cincinnati Parks Foundation’s Winter Hiking Challenge! Inspired by Friluftsliv—the Scandinavian tradition of "open-air living"—this challenge invites you to connect with nature, stay active and rediscover some of your favorite Cincinnati Parks, in the cold winter months. This year, in honor of the Cincinnati Ballet’s 50th anniversary of The Nutcracker, we’re kicking off the challenge by hiking with the magical Nutcracker in Smale Riverfront Park. Join us for the first hike on 11/30 at 10:00 a.m. Gather at Moerlein Lager House at 10 am on 11/30 and meet your guides: retired longtime city employees Steve Schuckman, Gerald Checco, with Larry Annett who now have their own walking group affectionately known as WORMS: Walking Older Retired Men’s Society. They will lead you on a storybook walk, courtesy of The Nutcracker, through Smale Park and back to Moerlein, just in time for the Lager House’s Christkindlmarkt, which opens at noon. Then be sure to catch special performances of The Cincinnati Ballet’s Nutcracker starting at 1:00 p.m., grab a photo with the Nutcracker and maybe even visit with Santa. Admission is free.
