Straight from the desk of our social media manager: As you might imagine, the #UnionTerminal photo bank is never-ending over here. And while I don’t normally promote my own photos so publicly, I've used this one as my phone's background many times since I captured it in February and felt it was time to share the wealth. I just love how the clock glows within the image like our own personal beacon, a symbol of hope and safety throughout the many decades of its life in our beautiful city. Happy #TerminalTuesday, y’all! #CincyMuseum

HELP! We need your opinion! We’re trying to get a read on what summer camp themes you would be interested in having your kiddo attend next year, so we’ve created this survey to help us figure it out. Whether your kiddo has spent time in our camps before or you’re hopeful to get them a spot in 2025, we want to hear from you. Visit https://lnkd.in/g2s4ffyG to give us your thoughts. Thank you!

In celebration of what would have been his 100th birthday tomorrow, this Saturday, November 16, we’re hosting a full day of nature-inspired art activities to remember the late wildlife artist John A. Ruthven. In 1934, a 10-year-old Ruthven walked into the Cincinnati Museum of Natural History – now the Museum of Natural History & Science (MNHS) – clutching a small hummingbird he intended to donate to the museum’s collections. This became a trend throughout his life as he helped bring thousands of specimens into the museum’s collections, building a rich and robust natural catalog. Here's our Saturday rundown: ?? No birthday is complete without a sweet treat! We’ll be making liquid nitrogen ice cream from 11 a.m. to Noon in the Cr(eat)e Culinary Studio featuring the Kroger Food Lab ?? Aspiring Artists: Nature Imprints with Sarah Kent from Noon to 5 p.m. in KIDSpace Join artist Sarah Kent in The Children’s Museum as she shares her love of preserving nature through imprints using clay and natural materials. ?? Animal Pictionary at 2:30 p.m. on the Science Stage in MNHS Play a game of drawing and guessing animals, then stick around to learn about Ruthven’s contributions to our collections. ?? Laser Craze: Animal Ornaments from 3 to 4 p.m. in our History in the Making Classroom Join us in the Cincinnati History Museum as we use a laser to carve beautiful animal ornaments and customize them with a marbling technique. All celebration activities are included with admission and free for museum Members.

I can’t stop watching this incredible compilation of the past seven years! The goals of Cincinnati Museum Center that we have discussed for many years —financial sustainability, more interesting content, increasing science education and a drive to more attendance—have come to life. So many have been a part of it, but to see it captured in this video is pretty amazing. AND we did it in the midst of global pandemic. We passed the sales tax vote in November 2014 to support much of the historic restoration of Union Terminal. We began that work in 2016 and began our private fundraising campaign to transform our learning experiences. Look at what you’ve made possible! I am overwhelmed with tears of joy to see this video and comprehend that we took the building apart and put all this incredible content in it. We officially concluded the Champion More Curiosity Campaign this summer and can draw the line under an UNPRECENTED $123 MILLION dollars raised over the past seven years. We are going to keep celebrating these milestones and the impact that it makes on our community. AND, we are always thinking about our future responsibilities. THANK YOU for being a part of making CMC a vital community asset for generations. Thank you for your leadership as we move into the next phases of this infinite organization! Come visit soon!

Sharing new OMNIMAX? films in our domed theater is always exciting for us, but we're especially stoked about T. REX - now playing, by the way - because our very own Paleontology team is featured IN THE FILM! While guests enjoy the lush sights of Laramidia in the Late Cretaceous period and get info nuggets about the Greatest Of All Tyrants, they'll also get to meet Glenn Storrs, our Curator of Vertebrate Paleontology and Associate Vice President of Science and Research, and catch a glimpse of our Dinosaur Hall and Paleo Lab. We are always so proud of the work our people are doing so it's extra fun when they get featured in big projects like this. Way to go, Glenn! Visit https://bit.ly/3Ul44gp to learn more about the film and get your tickets.
