Yesterday, we had the pleasure of welcoming Mr. Alejandre and his Buhach Colony High School Architectural Design class to the worksite of our in-progress hotel project in Merced. The students had the opportunity to tour the site, observe the construction process, and learn how real-world projects take shape. We were impressed by their curiosity and enthusiasm as they explored potential career paths in construction, architecture, and engineering. The visit also gave them valuable insights to apply to their classroom projects, including their participation in a competition through the Construction Industry Education Foundation. This event is an incredible initiative that introduces high school students to diverse career pathways in construction, design, engineering, heavy equipment operation, and other skilled trades. By empowering youth to explore hands-on activities, we can inspire them to pursue rewarding careers in our industry. At the event, we showcased a Truck Mounted Attenuator (TMA) and demonstrated its essential role in traffic control and safety. It was exciting to engage with students and share how critical equipment like the TMA protects our teams and supports safe construction practices. Last week in help with Palomar College and San Diego County Office of Education we hosted our 2nd Annual San Diego Trades Day at Palomar's beautiful campus. This event saw over 850 students from 35 high schools visit campus and interact with 27 hands on exhibits from industry leaders. Events like Trades Day's allow for students to get a sneak peek into all of the career paths and opportunities the built environment has to offer. We would not have been able to put on events like this without the support from our Cornerstone Sponsors, Procore Technologies and DPR Construction.
