We love this piece by Alissa Walker (subscribe to https://www.torched.la/)! CicLAvia Sundays provide clues for how LA can get more pedestrian and cyclist friendly, especially as the LA28 Olympic & Paralympic Games approach. "What makes CicLAvia so successful is that every route is punctuated with oases of amenities. Every mile or so, once-barren blocks become clusters of food trucks, shade canopies, bike repair tents, performance stages, street seating, water stations, and an actually adequae number of public bathrooms..."
I wrote about an underappreciated aspect of CicLAvia — it's not just about opening the streets, it's about punctuating the route with amenities that allow people to easily move through the city without cars https://lnkd.in/gPckdiDM

?? CicLAvia Board Member Heidi Zeller (Senior Manager, Cultural Programming & Communications, Los Angeles Metro) speaks to Telemundo 52 about CicLAvia—South LA (Western Ave) happening this Sunday, 6/23! Make sure to check out “Ephemeral Views: A Virtual Essay” by artist Ronald J. Llanos at the Western/Expo E Line Station, right on the route!
Strategy & Storytelling for Social Good: I help social impact orgs be seen, attract more supporters & further their cause so they can do more good in the world.
The early birds get the live TV coverage. At the crack of dawn this morning, Heidi Zeller, Senior Manager, Cultural Programming & Communications for Los Angeles Metro, and I met Telemundo 52 to promo this Sunday's CicLAvia-South LA, taking place along 5 miles of Western Avenue. Heidi is part of the team that curates art for all of the Metro stations and the Metro Art Bus, and is also a CicLAvia board member. This morning Heidi got to combine her passions by doing the news segment from the Western/Expo Station (Metro's E Line), which features 24 art panels by artist Ronald J. Llanos, titled Ephemeral Views: A Visual Essay. The art is visible from the street as well as while riding the train, and is one of this Sunday CicLAvia's featured "local gems." CicLAvias are always free of charge, free of cars, and full of fun. All forms of people-powered transportation are welcome: ??????????????♀? Hope to see my fellow Angelenos out there. Event details in comments below. (Hint: make it a totally car-free day and take the Metro E Line to get to the route.) What are you doing this weekend? #publicrelations #openstreets #happiness #cicLAvia #telemundo #LAMetro #mediarelations
