?? We’re proud to share the news of some groundbreaking research led by Prof. Elizabeth Soilleux, Fellow of Churchill College, who has developed an AI tool that matches pathologists' accuracy in diagnosing coeliac disease! ?? The machine learning algorithm correctly identified coeliac disease in 97 out of 100 cases. With symptoms varying widely between patients and subtle biopsy changes that can be subjective to interpret, accurate diagnosis often takes years. Prof. Soilleux's team trained the AI on over 3,400 biopsies from NHS hospitals, creating a tool that addresses these diagnostic challenges. As Prof. Soilleux explains, "AI has the potential to speed up this process, allowing patients to receive a diagnosis faster, while at the same time taking pressure off NHS waiting lists."
