#OnThisDay in 1967, Sweden pulled off one of the most complicated logistical changes in world history: overnight, they switched from driving on the left side of the road to the right side. Swedes only saw one day’s worth of work to make the switch happen. But what they didn’t see was Sweden’s massive four-year-long operational readiness and planning effort to efficiently switch sides. In order to prepare for H?gertrafikoml?ggningen — or “The Right-Hand Traffic Reorganization” — the Swedish authorities ensured stakeholders were well aware of the switch and its phasing plan, and they logistically prepared construction crews for an overnight move. Operational readiness might not be a new idea, but more than 50 years since Sweden switched sides of the road, it is? still the gold standard in preparing for any type of change. The World Map once again graces the airport's floor as part of Phase 3, which opens October 22. Phase 3 includes the Central Tunnel, the Concourse B mini plaza, five additional gates, and 12 new shops and restaurants. We're counting down the days!

It’s official! Earlier this week, Sacramento International Airport - Sacramento County Department of Airports (SMF) broke ground on its new pedestrian walkway. #SMForward is a $1.3 billion improvement plan that will take SMF to new heights. In addition to a new pedestrian walkway, it also includes a new parking garage, flow-of-traffic improvements, a new ground transportation center, and more! Chrysalis is excited to work with SMF’s team to make this project a reality.
