How does the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) protect people with disabilities in the workplace? ?? According to Benita T., a Senior Law Clerk, the ADA requires employers to provide "reasonable accommodations" to qualified employees with disabilities. These accommodations are intended to assist the employee in performing essential functions of their job, such as offering flexible work hours or remote work, but the accommodation is considered unreasonable if it could pose an undue hardship to the employer. Disclosure of an employee's disability isn't mandatory, but without disclosure, accommodations cannot be made. ?? Let's reframe the narrative that mental health care should be used in crisis situations, like going to the emergency room, rather than preventatively, like getting an annual physical. This conversation is especially relevant to the chronic community, as individuals with chronic conditions have a higher incidence of mental health challenges. ?? Why do chronic conditions often lead to mental health conditions? ?? What role does social media play in all of this? ?? How can you advocate for your health and access care? Read insights from CBC members, therapist Maggie Rocca MEd, LMHC/LCMHC?and mental health advocate Lauren Elizabeth Perna, on the Chronic Boss Hub: https://lnkd.in/gFpP_Fsw #mentalhealthmatters #chronicconditions #mentalhealthadvocacy

For patients with chronic conditions like rheumatoid arthritis, integrative medicine takes a whole-body approach to support overall health and well-being. Through her own health journey, Dr. Saimun Singla learned the power of using both Western & Eastern therapies to support patients with chronic conditions, and this led to her founding Rheum to Grow, a medical practice employing this blend of medicine. On the Chronic Boss Hub, she shared how integrative medicine can play an important role for patients with chronic conditions by looking at physical, emotional, social, spiritual, and environmental factors that impact their health. "To me, being a Chronic Boss means taking charge of managing a chronic condition with resilience and determination. It involves balancing daily challenges, seeking effective treatments, and maintaining a positive attitude while advocating for oneself. It also includes finding ways to thrive despite the condition, such as pursuing personal goals, managing symptoms proactively, and building a supportive network. Ultimately, it’s about being empowered and proactive in one’s own healthcare journey." ?? "One of the highlights of the year has been joining CBC. It’s been so inspiring to be part of a community of women, some of whom have the same conditions as me, who are still very focused on moving forward in their careers while navigating the challenges that come from living with chronic illness. Very refreshing!" We built the Chronic Boss Collective as a space for all of us women with chronic conditions to feel seen, heard, and supported while pursuing career goals.? Let's be honest, a?lot of the traditional advice around the world of work just doesn't work for women with chronic conditions. Every day in the CBC membership, we're learning how to build our dream careers without having to sacrifice our health and sharing those lessons learned with each other. Whether you're an entrepreneur, a side hustler, or working a 9-5, you're invited into our supportive community of powerful women. Doors are closing, so grab your seat in the CBC membership today! https://lnkd.in/g5kAqQ_a #ChronicBoss #DreamBigger #ChronicIllnessWarrior #FemaleEntrepreneurs #WomenWhoLead
