I'll be presenting on regionalization and translations in the context of #Drupal's site building capabilities at this year's #DrupalCon (in Atlanta, 24-27 March 2025). Come say hi to Matthew Daniel and myself!

Over the past few years, like many companies in our industry, we’ve had to sharpen our focus. When we examined our most successful endeavors we noticed that we excel at building Drupal products and features for?GLAM institutions,?communications companies, digital agencies, and?large organizations. We?remain a team of senior Drupal engineers?and product strategists, which has positioned us well to expand our capabilities in 2025 through a new partnership with Ibexa - a digital experience platform (DXP) provider that helps large organizations build and manage advanced digital experiences, including websites, e-commerce platforms, and customer portals. The platform is Symfony based, making it very familiar ??, and it’s especially valued for its ability to handle complex digital ecosystems that require tight integration between content, commerce, and personalization. Earlier today, I had the opportunity to participate in this year’s Great American Teach-In. I always thought that getting younger kids excited about software engineering would be a challenge (here’s another picture of me staring at a computer screen). However, when I heard Harley Finkelstein lament at Shopify Summit that entrepreneurship is rarely mentioned at these types of events, I knew exactly what I needed to share. While my background has always been in software engineering and later as an engineering leader, my career has been marked by entrepreneurship and exposure to inspiring entrepreneurs: working for Martha Stewart, co-founding City Notes with Dan Frommer building Chromatic with Chris Free and Dave Look, and now at Shopify, a company obsessed with enabling anyone to become an entrepreneur. I wanted to share the idea that even the companies that are so big and pervasive that a second grader knows them often started with just one or two people and a novel idea. We talked about companies they would recognize and how they began: Walt Disney founding Disney, Jeff Bezos starting Amazon, and Markus Persson creating Minecraft. I even had the chance to highlight local entrepreneurs like Bandit St. Pete and SAFDS, who were kind enough to donate stickers for the kids. I hope a few of them walked away with new ideas about how they could build something they are proud of in this world. And while I may not have been able to show up with a fire truck, a dog, or a cooler of fish, I did deliver on the stickers! #GreatAmericanTeachIn #entrepreneurship

"We help?GLAM institutions, communications companies,?digital agencies, and?large organizations?build products and features with Drupal." "What do you do?" I get asked this a lot. Sometimes, I say, "We build websites," and other times, I elaborate. Explaining that we build complicated web applications and large platforms for big companies. Usually, to avoid the follow-up, "Can you help with X project?" (Which I assume will be small and painful, though I have been proven wrong more than once!) I (and we) haven't always been great at shouting from the rooftops about what we do at Chromatic. But when I reflect on our work and our wonderful clients, I realize we should be much louder. We're excellent at what we do, which is way more than "building websites." We help our partners bring their data to the web, solve complicated problems, from deployments to migrations to re-platforming, and build complex multi-site Drupal platforms. We build web products and develop their custom features using Drupal. We do this with strategy, care, and a clear ROI. #drupal #busines #strategy
