A New York 48hrs. I moved into my new shop on Saturday. It was quite a move to say the least, I had a lot of equipment and items to be moved from my DC shop up to the NYC shop. I’m grateful to of had my parents, some good buddies, and movers that made the trip worry free. I’ve slept a total of 12 hours since I moved in. It has been a grind getting the new shop setup. I had to have it looking sharp by 1pm today for a new client that I had coming in. But when you love what you do, it’s all the more fun. Getting some sleep was just not on the agenda! As they say, I had way bigger fish to fry! My first client in NYC is an assistant coach for the Washington Wizards. I met him through a client that I made a wedding tuxedo for. When I went to his wedding to dress him, this gent was a groomsman and took a liking to the experience I was giving his best friend. He was rather inquisitive of what I did for a living. He asked for my card, however, I thought not much of it and did what I was there to do. He ringed me up a week ago and told me he was being inducted into his university alma mater’s sports Hall of Fame and needed some new threads for the ceremony! We made plans to meet up in NYC because the Wizards were playing the Knicks tonight. I got the shop tidied up and put together just in time to meet with him. It was a great time and I designed him up a badass fit for the event. As he was leaving the shop, he asked if I’d be interested in coming to the game! I said I’d love to. He hooked me up with great seats at Madison Square Garden for the Knick game! I decided to go suited up and really immerse myself in the culture that is NYC. I’m so stoked to be here. It already feels like home. The shop is coming along nicely, just a few more finishing touches and It’ll be all set. This city is electrifying, I started my morning today with a trip to the bodega to get a bacon, egg and cheese on an everything bagel; salt, pepper, ketchup. As I was walking back to the shop I accidentally ran into a woman who screamed at me ‘why?, why?, why?, learn how to walk!!’ I promptly apologized for my mistake and kept on. I laughed, doesn’t get any more NYC than that! I need to learn how to walk better, clearly. It reassured me that I’m in the right place, I love the hustle of this city, I love the attitude, I love the demeanor, everyone here is on the move and a simple run in with a stranger is time wasted. I can’t thank Christopher Schafer enough for this opportunity, he really has made my dream come true way earlier than I ever anticipated. This is the place that I know I will thrive in, I can’t wait to spend the foreseeable future in the Radio City! If you or anyone you know is in the market for new clothes in NYC, I’d love an introduction!!
