A New York 48hrs. I moved into my new shop on Saturday. It was quite a move to say the least, I had a lot of equipment and items to be moved from my DC shop up to the NYC shop. I’m grateful to of had my parents, some good buddies, and movers that made the trip worry free. I’ve slept a total of 12 hours since I moved in. It has been a grind getting the new shop setup. I had to have it looking sharp by 1pm today for a new client that I had coming in. But when you love what you do, it’s all the more fun. Getting some sleep was just not on the agenda! As they say, I had way bigger fish to fry! My first client in NYC is an assistant coach for the Washington Wizards. I met him through a client that I made a wedding tuxedo for. When I went to his wedding to dress him, this gent was a groomsman and took a liking to the experience I was giving his best friend. He was rather inquisitive of what I did for a living. He asked for my card, however, I thought not much of it and did what I was there to do. He ringed me up a week ago and told me he was being inducted into his university alma mater’s sports Hall of Fame and needed some new threads for the ceremony! We made plans to meet up in NYC because the Wizards were playing the Knicks tonight. I got the shop tidied up and put together just in time to meet with him. It was a great time and I designed him up a badass fit for the event. As he was leaving the shop, he asked if I’d be interested in coming to the game! I said I’d love to. He hooked me up with great seats at Madison Square Garden for the Knick game! I decided to go suited up and really immerse myself in the culture that is NYC. I’m so stoked to be here. It already feels like home. The shop is coming along nicely, just a few more finishing touches and It’ll be all set. This city is electrifying, I started my morning today with a trip to the bodega to get a bacon, egg and cheese on an everything bagel; salt, pepper, ketchup. As I was walking back to the shop I accidentally ran into a woman who screamed at me ‘why?, why?, why?, learn how to walk!!’ I promptly apologized for my mistake and kept on. I laughed, doesn’t get any more NYC than that! I need to learn how to walk better, clearly. It reassured me that I’m in the right place, I love the hustle of this city, I love the attitude, I love the demeanor, everyone here is on the move and a simple run in with a stranger is time wasted. I can’t thank Christopher Schafer enough for this opportunity, he really has made my dream come true way earlier than I ever anticipated. This is the place that I know I will thrive in, I can’t wait to spend the foreseeable future in the Radio City! If you or anyone you know is in the market for new clothes in NYC, I’d love an introduction!!

So it’s officially been a year and a half since I started here at CSC and I must say it’s been a wild ride. But I’m holding steady. I’ve become accustomed to the constant change and challenges and I’ve learned to embrace them. A year ago around this time I was coming off the back of my first ever Young Creatives Baltimore event and was anxiously preparing for the second one. Oh how far we’ve come. I’ve been able to watch my peers from that team continue to thrive in their respective fields whilst I continued to progress and improve my craft. I’m proud to say we’re still continuing to cultivate a strong community here as we come up on our final two variety shows. We’re ramping up for a whole new chapter here at CSC with the first floor opening up, Casey’s big move to the big apple and Erik officially joining the CSC team. Did I mention I cut my hair? Anyways, I’m excited for this new chapter and everything we have in store. Y’all haven’t seen anything yet! Stay tuned! Malik Minor

Well… It’s official! Moving Christopher Schafer Clothier up to New York City on November 15th, 2024. It has been a whirlwind of a process locking down a space. The previous spot that we had and were about to sign a lease on fell through at the last minute. Christopher and I decided to pivot and try and see if there was something else available. Reached out to a friend of a client who does commercial real estate in the city and he was fantastic to work with and we got a deal done rather quickly. The space is bathed in sunlight and really clean. I’m excited to get up there to set up what will be home base for me for a long time! This process was no small task, taught me a lot about versatility, patience, discipline and timing. I will still be coming to Washington, D.C. to see clients. The almost 3 years I’ve spent here have been rewarding. So long, 1794 Columbia Rd. NW #6 Washington, D.C. 20009 Next Stop: 37 W 26th St. Suite 306 New York, NY 10010 Casey Rowe

I am thrilled to share that, as the Executive Director of Sharp Dressed Man, I will continue to lead our mission as we celebrate a remarkable milestone—dressing 15,000 gentlemen in need with suits. This achievement reflects our commitment to empowering individuals through the gift of professional attire. I am also excited to announce our new partnership with The Helping Up Mission, through which we will welcome six dedicated volunteer workers to support the continued growth of our foundation. As we look forward to our inaugural Holiday Gala on December 14th at the Baltimore Street Car Museum, I am eager to embark on a new chapter as I officially join the Christopher Schafer team as a Master Clothier. Together, we are excited for what the future holds! Erik Blackwell
