We had a great time connecting with so many faith-filled friends at this year's International Conference on Missions! ??
Kurt White, a Medi-Share employee, reflected on joining the amazing folks at Samaritan's Purse as they helped those devasted by the recent hurricanes. "The most rewarding act of service was ministering to those who had been affected and were in such a vulnerable state. We were encouraged to sit with our new friends during breaks to engage with them, whether that was reassuring them or just listening to their stories. We showed them compassion and how a group of strangers led by the Holy Spirit had come together on their behalf. It was personal and heartbreaking to see what they were going through, but it was also uplifting to get them started on a return to normalcy." ????
Today, in large and small communities across the nation, Americans came together to honor our veterans for their service and sacrifice. I visited Arlington National Cemetery to attend their ceremony. During the opening prayer, Executive Director of the VA Chaplain Service, Chaplain Kimberly R. Willis, shared the significance of where we stood as “…this hallowed amphitheater where we congregate as one people in this sanctuary of remembrance…”. What a beautiful reminder as I sat alongside veterans, their families, caregivers, and various Veteran Service Organizations. Chaplain Willis also prayed that “…May we be found worthy of the legacy our veterans have entrusted to us.” I am reminded of the verse in John 15:13, “There is no greater love than to lay down one’s life for one’s friend.” May we always be grateful for their sacrifice, appreciate the freedom to express our faith, and honor Christ in all that we do. May we continue to pray for our veterans and their families and share our gratitude today and every day. I was so moved by the display of support for brothers in arms that I took this picture of three senior-aged veterans who were gently escorted to their seats before the ceremony. Despite being disabled and unable to stand unassisted, two veterans held up their comrade so he could proudly salute the flag. As we step into tomorrow, let us also stand ready to lift up those around us in prayer through words of encouragement or an act of kindness.
Today we honor the brave men and women who stood bravely defending freedom. Your sacrifices echo the ultimate love of Christ, laying down your life for others. ???? #VeteransDay
