  • This is our friend, Corey, and Corey saw that CAM recently had an urgent need, so she and her friends rose to the occasion! They all pooled their money together to buy 60 pounds of rice, 60 pounds of beans and tons of jars of peanut butter! They also dropped off men's pants! We can't thank Corey enough for coordinating this effort with her friends. This means so much to CAM and CAM's clients. The relationships we form from our social accounts are so very important to our nonprofit. YOU all make a difference by doing things like this. When CAM has an urgent need, you all rise to the occasion to help those in need, and for that, from all of us at CAM, we are SO incredibly grateful. Let's give a BIG shout out and thanks to Corey and her friends!! #thankyou #donate #community #campassion #fooddrive #grateful #makeadifference #camsa

  • CAM, like many other nonprofits, churches, volunteers and our City and County, are getting ready for the upcoming cold weather in order to serve the most vulnerable. We have seen some posts that aren’t completely accurate about the coordinated effort to help all in need. We truly want everyone who is worried and or has a heart’s desire to serve to know that there is a plan to help our most vulnerable people experiencing homelessness, during this cold spell. If you have a desire to help, it’s good to know the best way to go about helping. Please know that organizations like CAM, Corazon, Haven for Hope, the City, Communities Under the Bridge (CUB), SAMMinistries, Centro, and many others are passing out warming items (coats, handwarmers, socks, underwear, hats, and gloves). We are meeting about how to best collaborate. There will be extended hours at warming centers, the Corazon Day Center will stay open earlier and longer and then flip to a nighttime shelter. Food and ministry programs that serve this population like CUB will be opening nighttime pop-up shelters along with local churches and the City. What will CAM be doing? We will be sending staff out to known encampments, to warn clients of the upcoming weather, providing warming items if the clients won’t come in, and passing out warming items at our campus daily and on the streets. We will be picking up people and transporting them to shelters. We will provide help to our pop up shelters by providing items they might need in order to take in clients. We utilize a group communications app and as people call in about someone they are worried about or someone calls in for assistance, we are seeing it in real time and collectively responding to transport that person to a shelter. As we know more, we will share resources with you so that you can stay informed. The City Community Connections hotline is an important number if you want to alert any of us of someone in need or you yourself need to be picked up 210 207-1977. In addition, volunteering with any of the nonprofits listed above during this time is another way to serve. Feel free to visit their websites or ours at cam-sa.org to see how you can help.

  • How many of you have family members, close friends you consider family, co-workers, etc. that you feel are in “your corner”? You know what we mean. When someone says, “I’m in your corner”, it means they have your back – they support you no matter what – they love you – they’ll fight for you. That’s exactly what we had in mind with our CAM’s Corner campaign! We want to encourage others to be in CAM’s Corner because essentially it means you support the people we serve on a daily basis. The premise is that you may not be able to give “big”, but “small” gifts make BIG impacts. We put some of these words in quotations because they’re subjective. What may be big or small for one person may be the complete opposite for someone else. We encourage you to be in CAM’s Corner and become a monthly supporters. Giving $5, $10, $15, etc. monthly can make a huge difference for CAM because it will allow us to continue serving the San Antonio community on a daily basis. Click our link in bio to donate today and become one of our monthly, bi-monthly, or quarterly supporters! If you have questions about our CAM’s Corner campaign, contact Sarah at [email protected] today. #camscorner #camsa #donate #corner #monthly #campassion #nonprofit #community

  • ?? Stay safe, stay warm San Antonio! ?? CAM will be working with our homeless response team to provide warm weather clothing and pick people up to take them into shelter. We will be working with our partner organizations such as Corazon for extended hours and to provide alternative shelter locations. We will try to keep the community updated on what we might need in order to do this work and how to guide or help individuals you might see along the way.

  • CAM would like to acknowledge this week as it's Hunger & Homelessness Awareness Week. As you know, CAM does tons of work with San Antonio's unsheltered street homeless population. We provide daily sack lunches which often times can be someone's only meal for the day. We provide weather-appropriate clothing, shoes, hygiene items and daily showers where they can get new socks and undies every single time. We take care of our unsheltered friends and view them as our own. Join us in raising awareness for homelessness in our community! #homelessness #hunger #awareness #camsa #campassion #community #resources #sacklunch

  • CAM is honored to announce the selection of our own team member Valerie Narvaez as the 6th honoree of the Chris Madrid’s Beacon of Love award. Since 2019, Chris Madrids has recognized exceptional individuals who have made a profound impact on our community. This year, CAM was honored to have the current owners of Chris Madrid’s restaurant, Brooke and Richard Peacock volunteer to be our Gala Honorary Chairs. Through this volunteer work with us over this past year, they gained a greater understanding of CAM’s mission and the work that Valerie does for those experiencing chronic homelessness. Because of this, they selected her to be the recipient of this award and made a donation of $5,000 to CAM that her team can use however they like to love on our clients experiencing homelessness. Thanks to Valerie and her team for all their hard work and thank you to Chris Madrid’s for this award. #camsa #campassion #homeless #clients #servicetoothers #beaconoflove #chrismadrids #award
