Enjoyed a wonderful evening with several of my Huntington colleagues at An Evening with Mark Schultz, supporting Christian Adoption Services, Inc (CAS), a ministry of the Baptist Children's Homes of North Carolina, Inc. CAS does incredible work, helping expectant parents with domestic placements and finding homes for international children in need. Mark Schultz, who was adopted as an infant, shared his powerful story and a beautiful message about the life-changing impact of adoption. His words resonated deeply: “If you want to change the world, then mirror your experience and make that change. Recently, our International Adoption Team at Christian Adoption Services had the incredible opportunity to travel to the Philippines ahead of this year's Child Hosting Program. Their mission? To learn more about the children and advocate for their futures. We’re thrilled to share Carly’s inspiring experience from her time there! She met incredible children in need of forever families and witnessed their talents, dreams, and unwavering faith firsthand. Our hearts go out to all those affected by Helene. Several of our adoptive families and birth mothers in Western NC have been personally affected by the storm. We have been made aware of their specific needs and will be collecting donations to take to them and others who are in dire need of supplies. In addition, one of our staff member's mothers lives in WNC and is ministering to the needs of service workers, such as linemen, by providing snacks and supplies. We had a wonderful time last night kicking off our first Heritage Weekend for families that have adopted from the Philippines! We are so excited for the fellowship and connection that was already made. What a blessing to hear families sing the words: “all my life you have been faithful, all my life you have been good, with every breathe that I am able, I will sing of the goodness of God.” ??????

Emmanuel Home Update: A Successful First Year! In April 2023, we proudly cut the ribbon for Emmanuel Home, and by July, we were officially open for occupancy. Our first resident moved in immediately, marking the beginning of an incredible journey. This month, we celebrate our first year of serving birth moms in our residential program, and it's fitting that our inaugural resident, Karielle, is now preparing to move out on her own! In just 12 months, this remarkable birth mom has overcome personal hurdles, tackled her goals with unwavering confidence, and strengthened her self-efficacy. We are beyond proud of her achievements! During her time at Emmanuel Home, she earned her driver’s license, purchased a car, completed nursing assistant training, aced the state test to become a Certified Nursing Assistant, and secured a full-time job with a professional salary and benefits. She is a dedicated Christian and knows that God loves her and has a great plan for her. Please pray for Karielle as she transitions from Emmanuel Home, trusting in God to continue guiding her journey. Also, pray for the next birth moms who will be moving into Emmanuel Home. These women are eager to begin new chapters in their lives, and we are ready to walk alongside them on their pathways to success!
