Implications that disabilities make someone “unsafe” or “unable” to effectively play important roles in our organizations and society are not only patently false, they are offensive.

No matter what you look like - tattoos ??, fun-colored hair????, an out-there sense of style????- You can be a rockstar professional, respected colleague, and high-level mentor. Whatever makes you feel like the most confident, badass YOU, works. And employers that love that WILL notice.?And the ones that don't? Well... Again, ask yourself…if you’re a creative and you’re stifling who you are to work somewhere…is that really where you want to be? And of course, we know whether to go in more formally or casually - that is important! But I’m a big believer that your personal style can be dressed up or down.? TGIF, ya'll! I'm popping on here for a second and express a lil' good ole fashioned gratitude. ?? And I wanted to add to the "little green banner" conversation...get your popcorn ready. ???? Since posting that I'm "Open to Work" and taking on more consulting gigs, I've received such incredible support, genuine interest, and have spoken to folks from all over about their own career aspirations. I'm SO grateful for all of you, it just makes my little heart want to burst. ?? In my conversations, I've noticed people who were hesitant to officially put up the banner, or even publicly state they're in a career transition or looking for a job... I TOTALLY understand the sentiment...but in all honesty? ??Not so hot, "hot take" - If a company, recruiter, or hiring manager sees that as a pitfall or for some reason a turn off...Would you really want to work with or for them? What are YOUR client/company ideals? Who do YOU want to partner with? What does the most healthy, gratifying employer/client relationship look like for you? Employment and client relationships are a two-way street, Linkedin fam. If you're looking for work today, or are light on clients, I have a little homework assignment for you... Write down (or voice memo, I LOVE voice memos) what YOUR ideal employer/client looks like. Use the questions above. Add more. Take away what doesn't resonate. But Write. It. Down.
