Great leaders and teams thrive in the face of uncertainty. Just like in improv, where we step into the unknown with a "yes, and" mindset, embracing uncertainty allows us to adapt, innovate, and grow together. Instead of fearing the unknown, let’s acknowledge it, plan with flexibility, and trust that our collective strengths will lead to success, no matter what surprises come our way. Check out this week's Substack (link in comments) for a 2-step recipe for Accepting Uncertainty. #Leadership #Teamwork #EmbraceUncertainty #Improve #Innovation
Common situations that feel uncomfortable... ?? Initiating a difficult conversation ?? Sharing hard to share feedback with a team member ?? Asking for a raise ...and with practice, become easier and more comfortable. One way to practice turning these uncomfortable situations into comfortable ones is using intentional improv scenes to practice being in these scenarios and show up as the version of yourself you want to be in those situations so that it's easier IRL. Read more on this week's Substack (link in comments) and join us Wednesday, August 28, to practice turning your discomfort into comfort. #substack #improve #professionalgrowth #leadership
There are SO many situations outside our control in work. So what do you do when something is not within your control? Drop the rope. This week’s Substack is all about how to handle the situations outside of our control. Link in comments! #control #improve #leadership #motivationmonday #professionaldevelopment
Whether a literal skunk or a metaphorical skunk, acknowledge the reality of the situation, play the scene you're in, grab some skunk smell deodorizer, and find the funny (even if it stinks!) Read this week's Substack for ways to handle the skunks in your life https://lnkd.in/e2getZ-2 #resilience #creativity #adversity #improve #adapt
There aren’t right or wrong ways to apologize, but how an apology is said (or not said) will impact the person receiving it, and we can probably benefit from improving apologies by practicing improv. More on that in this week’s Substack (link in comments). #substack?#communication #leadershipskills?#improve #teams
This week's Substack isn’t about politics. It’s about how to improvise when the political environment keeps throwing curveballs that remind of uncertainty, lack of control, change, and all sorts of feelings. If you're feeling tossed around by the news the past few weeks or feeling like you're trying to catch the curveballs thrown at you, this post is for you. #mondaymotivation #substack #improve #adaptability #change https://lnkd.in/gg_K6vYZ
This is one of my (many) favorite applications of intentionally improvising on our growth as leaders and humans. It’s one thing to know something about ourselves we want to improve— a particular belief, character trait, habit — it’s another to actively practice that improvement. Enter improv as a way to not only improve self awareness, but also to act on it, so that the self awareness actually fuels growth. https://lnkd.in/eCkagg7p #substack #tuesdaythoughts #leadership #professionalgrowth #selfawareness
