REMINDER FOR TONIGHT! ChiS&E Families: We are moving forward with the ChiS&E Fall Programs. The registration will be Wednesday, October 16th at 5pm at Kenwood Academy with special guest speaker Dr. Sudip Parikh, CEO of the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS). Dr. Parikh is leading a new initiative to encourage more African Americans, Latinos and other marginalized groups to pursue careers in science, computer science, engineering and mathematics. The registration for the fall will be Little Civil Engineers (Kindergarten), Young Physicists (7th grade), Young Computer Scientists (8th grade), and Electrical and Computer Engineering (11th and 12th grade). All other programs will begin in February 2025. Chicago State University congratulates alumna Lucinda Boyd (2014, Chemistry) on the successful defense of her dissertation in the field of #chemistry at Louisiana State University! ?? After earning her STEM bachelor’s degree, Dr. Boyd worked in the research laboratory of CSU professor and leading researcher in #quantum science Dr. Valerie Goss. Dr. Goss also earned her bachelor’s degree in Chemistry from CSU. Women, particularly women of color, are rare in STEM sciences — Only about 4.6% of chemistry graduate students in 2016, who were U.S. citizens or permanent residents were Black or African American, according to data in a National Science Foundation report.
