Rocket propulsion lover at ERAU Prescott. Propulsive Lander Team Lead at Chimp Space Systems. Liquids Research Representative and Liquids Technical Committee at Rocket Development Lab
I had a great experience at RAPID + TCT! It was such a blessing to finally meet our Chimp Space Lander Team's industry partner HBD Additive Manufacturing. Huge appreciation goes to them for showcasing our first lander engine ?? The Ethalox engine printed by our sponsor & partner HBD Additive Manufacturing is made of AlSi10Mg. The engine will have a maximum thrust of 630 lbf with a capability to throttle down to 40% of its maximum capacity; it utilizes a very simply pintle injector configuration. There will soon be a detailed post of this engine. I give huge thanks to RAPID + TCT for having such an event, and allowing student access free of charge! It was such a great experience meeting industry professionals from companies that I have only been able to admire online. To name a few: ELEMENTUM 3D, Velo3D, KEYENCE CORPORATION, Xometry, Nikon SLM Solutions, Mitsubishi Corporation, Dyndrite, pro-beam Group. I did not have an expectation of the event coming into it for the first time; I don't think I will be missing a single one of these events from now on. See you again in 2026 at Detroit! Lastly, I'd like to share a bit of my rocket team's current focus and short-term goals. Chimp Space Lander Team is currently focusing most of its powers in the hot-firing of our engine from HBD Additive Manufacturing, finishing the electric mockup of the lander, and GNC. Today I'd like to finally share the news that we have been working on a 10,000 lbf engine. Stay tuned for more updates!
