Earlier this week, our CEO Steve DaRe joined Maryland Association of Community Services CEO Laura Howell on Midday Maryland on WMAR-2 News Baltimore to discuss Maryland's leadership in supporting people with disabilities during Developmental Disabilities Awareness Month. Laura and Steve shared information about the amazing things people with disabilities are achieving in Maryland and across the country with the support of organizations like Chimes and MACS. They also touched on budget challenges that states like Maryland are facing and how that could impact people with disabilities, their families and the community. Thank you Laura and Steve for sharing your perspective with the public and our government officials. #ddawareness2025 #saveourDDservices https://lnkd.in/e2eNTMaG
Chimes is proud to be one of the longest serving and largest providers of services and support for people with disabilities in our region. On International Women’s Day, we take a moment to reflect upon the founder of Chimes, Frances Bacon. Her efforts to advocate for people with disabilities by starting a program for a handful of children at the Church of the Redeemer in Baltimore over 75 years ago continue to inspire us to this day. We are grateful to ALL the strong women leaders at Chimes that carry on her legacy. #DisabilityAwarenessMonth #WomensHistoryMonth #InternationalWomensDay25
Yesterday, our team at Chimes Delaware took part in Inclusion Day, organized by Special Olympics Delaware (SODE)! Thank you to the Special Olympics for spearheading this campaign to recognize that our choice of language reflects how we treat others. Let’s all take action in building a world where everyone feels valued, respected and included #inclusionday #specialolympicsdelaware
We’re grateful to Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro for proclaiming March as Developmental Disabilities Awareness Month! This recognition highlights the importance of inclusion, accessibility, and opportunities for individuals with developmental disabilities. Together, we can build a more inclusive future where everyone has the opportunity to thrive.
Throughout the United States, March is recognized as Developmental Disabilities Awareness Month. President Ronald Regan issued a proclamation in 1987 marking the observance to urge Americans to provide individuals with developmental disabilities “the encouragement and opportunities they need to lead productive lives and to achieve their full potential.” Chimes is proud to be one of a network of thousands of organizations across the country that help people with developmental disabilities define success for themselves and help them find a path to achieve it. #ddam2024 #disabilityinclusion #DisabilityAwarenessMonth

Throughout February, we have been sharing thoughts and reflections from team members from across the Chimes organization on why Black History Month is so meaningful. Next up, we hear from Kisha Core, Assistant Residential Director, Chimes Delaware and Interim Director for Chimes Holcomb IDD. “Black History Month is the reflection, acknowledgment and honoring of a culture. It highlights and preserves the history of those who endured, fought, suffered, and embodied what we now know and view as elements to the pinnacle of true character.” #BlackHistoryMonth
