Yesterday, we gathered with friends, students, colleagues and supporters to celebrate a monumental moment for University of North Carolina at Charlotte — the renaming of the College of Science to the Klein College of Science, in honor of Gené and Fred Klein. This change comes following their generous $10 million investment in the college, a transformative contribution that promises to enhance educational and research opportunities for many future generations. Fred Klein, a notable figure in Charlotte’s development and a founding partner of Childress Klein, has been instrumental in shaping both the city's skyline and the trajectory of UNC Charlotte. His commitment, along with that of his wife Gené, extends across various aspects of the university, including his service on the Board of Trustees and the Foundation Board, and his involvement with the Childress Klein Center for Real Estate. The Kleins, together with the Childress Klein partners, have been longtime supporters of UNC Charlotte and are among the University’s most generous donors. In recognition of his substantial contributions and service, Fred was awarded the prestigious Distinguished Service Award by UNC Charlotte in 2024, underscoring his deep impact on both the region and the university. Reflecting on the donation, Fred Klein remarked, “Charlotte’s growth has been driven by three key factors: the banks, the airport, and a strong research university. UNC Charlotte is a pivotal element in this growth, and Gené and I are deeply proud to be part of this community and to invest in its bright future.” We extend our heartfelt gratitude to Gené and Fred Klein for their steadfast dedication and support, which not only enriches our community but also sets a foundation for continued excellence and innovation at UNC Charlotte. Thank you, Gené and Fred, for your remarkable generosity and vision! Read the official Press Release from UNC Charlotte here... https://lnkd.in/eicMf7Q2

In the spirit of continual evolution and forward-thinking, we are proud to draw attention to the recently unveiled SouthPark Forward 2035 Vision Plan. This promising initiative represents an unwavering commitment to the growth and prosperity of the SouthPark community, a testament to the dedication of its stakeholders and partners. The vision plan, which recommends approximately 65 projects and programs, encompasses a significant investment of $250 million in public and private projects. By focusing on creating a walkable, energetic community where people connect and businesses flourish, the plan underscores the strategic importance of SouthPark as a premier shopping destination on the East Coast. Our Retail Partner, Chris Thomas, who serves as board chairman for SouthPark Community Partners, rightly noted that the plan builds upon years of planning, investment, and leadership. He also highlighted the strategic decision to forego ranking projects by priority or rigid timelines, a move designed to maximize flexibility and leverage development cycles, funding opportunities, and partnerships that increase impact. At Childress Klein, we are eager to continue supporting and participating in this ambitious journey towards the revitalization of SouthPark. We believe in the power of community, and we are confident in our collective ability to transform this vision into reality. You can read more about this initiative here -> https://lnkd.in/ecxbkAg7 #SouthParkForward2035 #ChildressKlein
