We are #hiring an Advanced Nurse Clinician position in our General Surgery Department. #GeneralSurgery cares for a wide variety of diagnoses such as gastric tube placement, Hirschsprung’s disease, congenital anomalies, appendicitis, mass removal and cholecystectomy, and the age of patients you care for can vary from birth to young adulthood. You have the opportunity to provide continuity of care for patients - preparing them for surgery, visiting them at the bedside post-operatively to provide teaching, then checking in with them as an outpatient for follow-up. For chronically ill patients, you get the pleasure of following the patient for many years and forming a professional relationship with the patient and family. The role of an advanced #nurseclinician is autonomous, yet you get to work alongside world renowned Pediatric Surgeons and world leaders in the surgical care of pediatric patients. The position is Monday-Friday, off on holidays and weekends. #ApplyToday

Children's of Alabama Sleep Disorders Center reaches 15-year accreditation Milestone! ?? AASM-accredited sleep centers provide diagnostic and therapeutic care of people who have problems related to sleep and alertness. AASM accreditation is the gold standard for sleep care, giving patients confidence and peace of mind when they seek help for a sleep disorder. To receive and maintain accreditation, a sleep center must meet or exceed all standards for professional health care as designated by the AASM. These standards address core areas such as personnel, facility and equipment, policies and procedures, data acquisition, patient care and quality assurance. Additionally, the sleep center's goals must be clearly stated and include plans for positively affecting the quality of medical care in the community it serves. Congratulations to the Sleep Disorders Center team for reaching this achievement!

It's time to celebrate Healthcare Foodservice Workers Week! The theme for 2024 is "Leading the Way in Self-Operated Foodservice". Our healthcare foodservice workers are an essential part of operations, and their work contributes to the well-being of patients, staff, and visitors. They prepare meals, manage inventory, and maintain the cleanliness of kitchens, dining halls, and cafeterias. Recently we celebrated Clinical Support Staff Appreciation Day here at Children's of Alabama! Our clinical support workers (such as Clinical Assistants, Unit Support Specialists and Telemetry Technicians to name a few) assist healthcare practitioners in the delivery of patient care. They take on tasks such as welcoming and preparing patients, obtaining vital signs, explaining treatments and updating patient records. We honored their hard work and dedication this year with t-shirts, breakfast and unit based celebrations.
