关于我们

We believe every child has the right to read. We exist to ensure all children achieve reading proficiency by third grade, empowering them to thrive. Our mission is to nurture and develop a movement among disparate groups uniting volunteers, educators, faith communities, and non-profit organizations to provide reading mentorship to every struggling reader. Our goal is to mobilize one million reading mentors to provide personalized support to children nationwide by 2027.

“Nothing is more foundational, or more important to a child’s success in life than the ability to learn and love to read,” Stephen Curry and Ayesha Curry said in a statement. “When that is missing, you take away the opportunity for an individual to meet their full potential, which is what is displayed in Sentenced. We’re grateful for the group of filmmakers and activists involved in this film who share a common goal of promoting literacy and changing these outcomes and inequities that exist." Check out the article at The Hollywood Reporter and be sure to watch SENTENCED on Peacock!

When we first started making SENTENCED, Connor, the co-director, said, “I want a documentary that creates empathy… people don’t know what illiteracy looks like, what it feels like… We have to follow real stories that humanize the statistics.”?That was when we found Fugi. This is Fugi trying to read.?Fugi did more than invite us into his life… he dared to reveal to us how he was stuck.?Because he can’t read, everything in his life required taking “the long way,” as Connor coined it.?With him everything came with pain and if you have watched SENTENCED, you know exactly what I am talking about.?Right? At the same time, when you watch him, you will get to meet a man who had been raised to be hard and yet when his children arrived, everything changed.?His heart became soft… and so he traveled that “long way” every single day, compelled by his love. See Fugi’s story in SENTENCED, now playing only on Peacock. https://lnkd.in/eBxH_2nk

Stephen Curry’s Unanimous Media presents SENTENCED, an immersive and vulnerable exploration of the epidemic of childhood illiteracy through a series of braided character driven stories. Narrated by Stephen Curry, SENTENCED is filmed from the point of view of ethnically diverse adults and children who have never learned to read, the film is a forceful yet tender tale of how literacy can free children from the cycles of generational poverty.
