关于我们
The Children’s Equity Project is led in partnership with researchers and advocates at several universities and organizations across the United States. Our work focuses on closing opportunity gaps and advancing equity in all of the systems that impact the lives of children and families so that all children, particularly those from historically and contemporary marginalized communities, can thrive. The CEP works at the intersection of research, practice, and policy. We engage in rigorous original research, partner with policy makers at every level of government to support data and research informed policy changes that will advance opportunity for children from historically marginalized communities; and engage with communities to deliver training, technical assistance, and professional development. We are informed by families' voices through our family advisory committee, lived experiences, data, and research, and have deep expertise in child development, policy, and systems.

Drs. Xigrid Soto-Boykin and Gladys Aponte presented at this year’s La Cosecha, a conference on bilingual education, in Santa Fe, New?Mexico. They presented alongside our CEP Partner Dr. Conor Williams from The Century Foundation and Dr. María Rosa Breah-Spahn from New York University. They discussed how to provide emergent bilinguals with access to high quality dual language education, and how to expand translanguaging to include children with disabilities and those who speak different language varieties. Learn more about our work on emergent bilinguals on our website!? https://cep.asu.edu/

“Through our three initial project activities—a literature review, policy scan, and key informant interviews—we learned that the use of multiple funding sources was common among Head Start programs to support program quality and access. We also found that there were several common sources of funding often used in combination with Head Start, including CCDF and state pre-K.” In this new brief from our research partners NORC at the University of Chicago, The Children's Equity Project, and Start Early Champions for Early Learning, learn more about early findings from the Financing for ECE Quality & Access for All (F4EQ) project, which seeks to better understand the landscape of Head Start’s participation in or use of multiple funding sources as well as the local and state contexts and conditions that inform those decisions. https://lnkd.in/e-HeiysU #ECE #ECEchat #HeadStart

The definition of “high-quality” has been too narrow, often leaving out indicators that are particularly important to children from historically marginalized communities. Check out our brief "Equity is Quality, Quality is Equity" partnered with the #EquityResearchActionCoalition at the FPG Institute & Child Care Aware of America for indicators states can use to build more inclusive, equitable quality rating & improvement systems. https://lnkd.in/gecsXtbv

First generation Latina educator disrupting the status quo, committed to empowering others to do so as well.
To say that La Cosecha 2024 was amazing would be an understatement! Rebecca De Leon and I had such a fulfilling, energizing, and affirming experience. I’m excited to bring everything we learned back to our colleagues at Student Achievement Partners. There were many great sessions and interactions, but a few made quite the impression. Michael Rodríguez your speech during opening ceremony around WHY this work is important resonated heavily, gracias. Arturo Lujan it was so great to reconnect! There’s nothing like cultivating and sustaining connections with fellow Latinos in the math field. I’m excited for potential future collaborations to support students both mathematically + linguistically across the Santa Fe Public Schools district. Lisa Meyer (Dual Language Education of New Mexico), I enjoyed your session + extending my learning around how to attend to language in order to support students in math spaces. Everything aligned closely with the work I do at SAP! Xigrid Soto-Boykin, Gladys Y. Aponte (The Children's Equity Project), + María Rosa Brea-Spahn, Ph.D. it was an HONOR to attend your session about translanguaging! Your brilliance and poder Latino was palpable. Excited to connect and learn more about the work you’re all doing. The work to increase understanding around linguistically sustaining practices in math spaces is something I am fiercely passionate about. What an honor + privilege to learn from, and alongside, others on the ground, doing the work del alma con el mismo nivel de cari?o.
