We are inspired by the work of Dr. Tasslyn Magnusson, winner of the 2025?Children’s Book Council & Every Child a Reader Free Speech Award for?her courageous work against book bans in our country. Like Dr. Magnusson, we believe in the power of #ChildrensLiterature to save lives by helping children appreciate themselves and others, and?shaping "how young people understand the world, and their capacity to imagine it better." #ChildrensLiteracy?#NonProfitOrganization??#ChildrensBookProject https://lnkd.in/g_KGxy-c

The Children's Book Project gives free books to children who need them for equity in literacy, learning, and life.
关于我们
The Children’s Book Project provides free, high-quality books to children who need them. Our mission for more than 30 years has been to help ensure equity in literacy, learning, and life for children and youth in San Francisco and the Bay Area. Literacy attainment is directly tied to academic achievement and lifetime outcomes. However, children living in economically disadvantaged communities often do not have the same access to books as their more affluent peers. The Children’s Book Project is committed to closing the opportunity gap and lifting up our community by raising young readers. We invite you to learn more about CBP by visiting our website. Teachers and organizations working with children who could benefit from our services are welcome to make an appointment to obtain free books for infants through teens at our Book Bank in San Francisco.

Congratulations to the newest National Ambassador for Young People’s Literature: fabulous, local, award-winning author Mac Barnett! HIs platform—Behold, the Picture Book! Let’s Celebrate Stories We Can Feel, Hear, and See—will?explore the deeply impactful ways picture books blend words and illustrations to create a uniquely powerful reading experience, one that is often the foundation for a lifetime of reading. Mac recently read to thrilled 2nd graders at our Storytime program, inspiring the next generation of readers and creators to make their own art and stories. Educators, librarians, and booksellers can apply?by March 3 to host an event with Mac via the link below. #ChildrensLiteracy??#NonProfitOrganization??#ChildrensBookProject https://lnkd.in/d4dH6BFF

Studies show that with more diverse books in the classroom, students spent more time reading and their reading scores improved above national averages, with the greatest gains for the lowest scoring students. As #BookBans increase across the country, we're doing our best to help ensure that children have access to high-interest, culturally engaging books that reflect their lives and community. Help us continue with our mission of giving books to the children who need them most, by donating a book from our curated #Wishlists! https://lnkd.in/d9tW-m_w
