Providing children with incarcerated parents the guidance, support and resources they need to thrive
关于我们
Children of Promise, NYC (CPNYC) is a non-profit organization reimagining a just society that values the purpose of every child impacted by mass incarceration and removes barriers to create opportunities for children to thrive and achieve their human potential. CPNYC offers an innovative after school program, summer day camp, and mental health clinic, all under one roof. It is only program of its kind in New York City specifically designed to meet the needs, interests, and concerns of over 350 children annually, ages 6-18, left behind by parents serving time in prison. Additionally, we are currently serving youth in BedStuy and the South Bronx as an official NYC Department of Education Learning Lab.

At CPNYC, we know that reading creates pathways to brighter futures.— which is why we’re proud to celebrate National Reading Month all March long. Through our programming, we emphasize improving reading levels across all age groups, helping our scholars build confidence in their literacy abilities, and fostering a genuine love for reading. Whether they’re discovering a new favorite story at our in house libraries or building critical reading comprehension skills, our scholars are not only discovering new stories but also writing their own. This National Reading Month, help us expand our library shelves, host a read-aloud, or donate books that reflect the beautiful diversity of our scholars. Together, let’s turn the page toward brighter futures.

To close out Black History Month, our scholars took center stage for our Future Legends & Past Heroes Black History Month Showcase — a beautiful spoken word tribute to the Black leaders and legends who paved the way. With the support of our dedicated staff and the presence of proud parents, the evening was truly inspiring. At CPNYC, we remain committed to celebrating Black history and amplifying Black voices within our community every single day. Thank you to everyone who came out and made this event so special!??????

Visit the New York Times website or the link in our bio to read about how last week’s federal funding freeze announcements and ongoing executive action has been affecting our work here at CPNYC. In our efforts to fortify our organization in the face of uncertainty, we encourage you to get involved by becoming an active and recurring donor, getting your corporation involved through available matching programs, sharing your skills and time with our young people, and in various other ways which you can learn about on our website cpnyc.org. Our children and families remain our priority. Times are uncertain but our community is resilient and dedicated to keeping the promise, with or without government aid. Your support is instrumental in furthering our mission to empower youth impacted by parental incarceration. As we remain steadfast in our commitment, we invite you to stand with us. Thank you @nytimes for the opportunity to share our story. Stay connected with CPNYC for updates and more ways to support.

In honor of our MLK Day of Service, we partnered with 6 Jack and Jill of America, Inc. Chapters across NYC for an event that truly embodied the spirit of community????? Thanks to this amazing collaboration, we were able to serve over 98 families, providing essential items like toiletries, sheets, towels, coats, hats, books, toys and more. This entire day was a reminder of the power of unity and service. We are beyond grateful for all of our donors & partners who made this event possible. The dedication of Jack and Jill’s NYC chapters helped make this event a remarkable success. We look forward to even more partnerships and opportunities in 2025 to uplift the incredible families we serve at CPNYC and our surrounding neighborhoods. Thank you to everyone who graciously offered their time and resources to make this possible.
