关于我们
Children's Aid Society of Alabama (CAS) has provided services to families in need or at risk since 1912. We believe that children who grow up in safe, stable homes with loving families or permanent supports have the greatest chance of success. We help parents gain the skills and resources they need to keep families together. When children cannot remain with their birth families, we recruit and prepare adoptive homes. We house homeless young mothers and their children while they gain education and job skills that enable them to create family homes. We prepare youth in foster care to age out with the skills necessary to live independently.

We know young people have the power to shape their future with the support of caring adults in their lives. This toolkit should be a part of every workplace, because more people than you realize have experienced foster care. It’s also important to give our young people in foster care our support well before they enter the workforce. Our Independent Living program’s GRAD BAG campaign helps our youth set off on their journey toward successful adulthood. Your gift will provide all of Alabama’s high school graduates and GED recipients in foster care with durable luggage filled with necessities! All brand new and just for them as we celebrate their launch into adulthood. ??https://lnkd.in/e7xHW7NA ??donation or ??https://a.co/eg7k4z7 Amazon Wishlist Please give today. . . #youthempowerment #alabama
Young people with foster care experience bring valuable skills to the workforce, but they also face unique challenges. A supportive work environment helps all workers thrive — including those with experience in foster care — by helping them fully engage and reach their potential. In this video, Casey’s Catherine Lester introduces a new tool kit that helps professionals better advocate for and support young workers with foster care experience. Happy Social Work Appreciation Month! We think our social workers are superheroes, so we asked them, “What’s your origin story?” Tashee B. is the program director for our Project Independence (PI) team. PI works directly with unhoused teen mothers and expecting mothers. The team facilitates a safe temporary living environment, while providing mentorship, life skills training and connecting these teens to supportive resources to help build a stable foundation for themselves and their children. Our PI team helps these young people discover their own power and keep their families together. For Tashee, it’s personal. She often speaks about the work she leads her team to perform through the lens of “little Tashee.” She is not just serving clients, Tashee’s helping them break cycles because she knows the challenges that come with being a cycle breaker first hand. She embodies compassion + action, and we are proud to count her as a colleague. . . #socialworkmonth #motivationmonday #Alabama
