关于我们
Children's Aid Society of Alabama (CAS) has provided services to families in need or at risk since 1912. We believe that children who grow up in safe, stable homes with loving families or permanent supports have the greatest chance of success. We help parents gain the skills and resources they need to keep families together. When children cannot remain with their birth families, we recruit and prepare adoptive homes. We house homeless young mothers and their children while they gain education and job skills that enable them to create family homes. We prepare youth in foster care to age out with the skills necessary to live independently.

We’ve just finished our final TTN of 2024. Our thanks to Gregory Manning, PsyD for ending it on a solid note. Our virtual and in-person attendees walked away with tools for asessment, diagnosis and treatment. Methods for building safety, connections and coping skills and perspectives on sensory and evidence based practices that support these actions. If you attended, we’d love to hear from you. What were some of the most valuable lessons you learned?

Some members of Children's Aid Society of Alabama’s, Alabama Pre/Post Adoption Connections (APAC) team, CAS board members and executive leadership, as well as Heart Gallery Alabama, and an enthusiastic young adult adoptee were honored to accept the invitation to attend Governor Kay Ivey’s Adoption Month proclamation signing ceremony. National #AdoptionMonth highlights the importance of supporting adoptees and adoptive families. It also serves as a reminder that the need for adoptive parents is great. APAC performs many meaningful services but recruiting and providing the trauma-informed training needed to prepare individuals and couples to be well-informed, understanding, supportive, loving forever families is essential. Help APAC reach more people from Alabaster to Wetumpka, and all of our wonderful Alabama cities. The goal of foster care is reunification and we have an excellent team here that helps families reach that goal. However, out of the thousands of children in Alabama’s foster care, over 200 children are available for adoption. In the grand view, 200 might not seem like much. But it is. This number is just a representation of actual children. Many of whom are teenagers. Young people who are trying to make it through life without the support of a family they can call their own. The Heart Gallery of Alabama shares profiles of waiting children to give you an idea about their personalities. Their hopes. Their dreams. We often reference the words of Josh Shipp, “Every kid is one caring adult away from being a success story.” Knowing someone believes in you, sees you and your potential, will be there for you to lean on when you feel lonely or doubt yourself and your place in the world…well, that’s something every child should have. Several of our team members have lived experience in foster care and adoption, some of our board members do as well. APAC is focused on creating better childhood experiences for waiting children in Alabama’s foster care. We invite you to join APAC recruiters on November 24th anytime between 3:00 - 4:00 pm for a Zoom Q&A about adopting in Alabama. RSVP today ?? https://lnkd.in/eqAnNcYw. Share with your network, you never know who might be considering adoption, and APAC provides free, expert support and guidance throughout the adoption journey.
