CSC in the Community: Building Resilience from the Start at Babies & Bubbles Brunch The Broward Children’s Strategic Plan (BCSP) was thrilled to have CSC Council member Alyssa Foganholi join us at the BCSP-supported Babies & Bubbles Brunch! A heartfelt thanks to our hosts, Dr. Harleen Hutchinson, Psy.D., IMH-E?, The Journey Institute, and The Florida Association for Infant Mental Health (FAIMH), for their warm reception and impactful conversations. Today, I had the wonderful opportunity to read to my daughter’s class as part of the Broward #ReadForTheRecord2024 campaign!?There’s something truly special about sharing a story with kids, seeing their eyes light up with excitement and curiosity. Reading together is about sparking imaginations, building bonds, and laying the foundation for lifelong learning. Taking a few minutes a day to read with a young one can encourage their journey into the world of words. Together, we can make a big impact - one story at a time. This morning, I had the privilege of reading at our home elementary school for Read for the Record as one of the newest Council members of the Children's Services Council of Broward County! The kids loved the beautiful book *Piper Chen Sings* and shared their own moments of feeling húdié (butterflies) in their tummies. Their responses were priceless, from allergy testing to waiting in line for roller coasters! It was such a joy to read with them and follow up with a fun activity. Huge thanks to Mrs. Fraschetti for welcoming School Board Member Daniel P. Foganholi and me into your classroom today. Earlier today, Joe DiMaggio Children’s Hospital, in partnership with Children's Services Council of Broward County and Broward County Public Schools, kicked off a special series in support of "Broward: Read for the Record!" This annual event unites thousands of children and adults across Broward County to raise awareness for early literacy by reading the same book on the same day.. At the hospital, community leaders, including U.S. Representative Debbie Wasserman Schultz School Board Vice Chair Debra Hixon, Caitlin Stella, MPH, CEO of Joe DiMaggio Children’s Hospital, and Cindy Arenberg, president/CEO of Children’s Services Council of Broward County, read *Piper Chen Sings* to patients and families in our Child Life Zone. The book, written by Grammy winner Phillipa Soo, tells a heartwarming story of finding the courage to express yourself through song. Celebrating 10 years of #BrowardReadForTheRecord with CSC and Broward County Schools highlights the ongoing importance of early literacy. At Joe DiMaggio Children’s Hospital, Mr. George, our full-time Broward County School teacher, helps patients keep up with their schoolwork and fosters a love of reading while they’re in the hospital.
