IDEA funding helps schools meet the needs of students with disabilities ??Title I funding ensures schools with high percentages of low-income students can still provide quality education For decades, the U.S. Department of Education has distributed this vital funding and played a crucial role in protecting the educational rights of youth. Last week, we shared about CLC's policy advocacy. Another key part of CLC’s mission? Community education! We’re dedicated to equipping legal professionals with the tools they need to provide compassionate, trauma-informed representation for kids. Just yesterday, our Lexington Director, Cory Dodds, led a training for 25 members of the McCracken County Bar Association, focusing on how to advocate for child victims of crime as GALs. "[Young people] deserve systems that advance justice that's imbued with human rights and dignity." Policy advocacy is an important part of CLC's work. One key way we do this is by talking to elected officials about how their decisions impact youths' rights, health, and safety.
