A new adaptive playground is coming to our hospital on University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus, and it's all thanks to Denver Broncos Football Club's Head Coach Coach Sean Payton and his wife Skylene! After visiting our hospital earlier this year, the couple discussed ways they could make a meaningful contribution to the children, and ultimately decided to make a $150,000 donation to help build a playground. Recently, we met with two inspiring families who came together to create a fundraising event in support of Children's Hospital Colorado! After receiving care here at Children's Colorado, the families bonded over their shared experiences and launched a community partner golf tournament. In its very first year, this dedicated group raised over $57,000 for Children's Colorado — an extraordinary accomplishment for an inaugural event! Their commitment to helping all kids have access to world-class care is truly inspiring. We’re grateful for their philanthropic efforts and thrilled that they’re already planning next year’s tournament. We experienced a remarkable moment at Children's Hospital Colorado, North Campus, where an entire community came together to celebrate a new victory bell, funded by Bellamy and family to honor pediatric cancer patients. Bellamy, who is currently undergoing treatment, and her mom led a fundraising effort to create this special symbol of hope. The unveiling brought together a diverse group — Bellamy’s primary doctor, nurses, medical dog-tor Pringle, nursing students, Environmental Services, Food Services, Facilities staff, and even the team member who installed the bell. Each play a role in supporting Bellamy’s journey, from providing care and comfort during treatment to keeping her spaces safe and clean. This celebration is another example of what makes Children’s Colorado different. It’s not just a care team; it’s a community driven by compassion and dedication. A huge thank you to Bellamy, her family and the incredible North Campus team for your unwavering support of our patients and mission. Way to go Mountain Ridge Middle School Interact Club! This group of young leaders raised over $800 hosting an ice cream and sundae sale. They recently gathered at school under the "Be a Good Person" mural to present a check to Children's Hospital Colorado Foundation to support cancer research in memory of a former student Ram and patient of Children's Hospital Colorado, Cole Frederking, who passed away in August 2024 from a rare kidney cancer. Children's Hospital Colorado patient ambassador, Zariea, was recently named athlete of the week in October by KOAA News5. Zariea is a three-sport athlete that has persevered inside and outside the court whole undergoing chemotherapy for the brain tumor she was diagnosed with while a sophomore in high school. https://lnkd.in/gEbGb2xm Today, Zariea is tumor free and continues to excel in sports and her academics, while representing Children's Colorado as a patient ambassador and fundraising to support kids like her at the Center for Cancer and Blood Disorders. Our medical dog-tors were all smiles with our friends from Transamerica. Along with their handlers Sarah, Brianne and Devin, Galaxy and Halo met with Transamerica representatives to accept their gift of $100,000 in support of our Medical Dog Program at Children's Hospital Colorado. This generous donation will support our four-legged buddies and their expertly trained handlers in assisting patients and families in their medical journeys. Whether it's lending a furry shoulder to lean on during tough conversations, providing paw-sitive encouragement or helping inspire kids to learn new skills, there's no job too big or small for our incredible dog-tors.
