Children’s Aid and Family Services empowers individuals, strengthens families and supports healthier communities. Our work includes supervised housing, specialized services and day programming for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities, adoption and adoption support services, therapeutic foster care and support for teenagers who have aged out of foster care, community and school-based substance misuse prevention and education programs and peer recovery support services. Each of these services makes a profound and lasting difference in people’s lives.

#DYK Strengthening Families is an evidence-based program that significantly enhances parenting skills and family relationships. It aims to reduce problematic behaviors in and out of school, boost academic performance, improve family functioning, and prevent substance misuse in youth. NJ4S Bergen Hub brought together 160 residents to donate and exchange winter coats. Its representatives shared local mental health and wellness resources with participants. The successful drive showed how social connection and sustainability can bring positive change. NJ4S was created to support students and families in improving their mental health and wellness, utilizing evidence-based targeted prevention interventions, and offering clinical consultation and referrals to community-based services.
