ChildFund Alliance has joined over 110 civil society organizations in calling for immediate action to protect and empower women and girls in the digital age. The public statement, initiated by Soroptimist International HQ and the Conference of NGOs in Consultative Relationship with the United Nations, highlights the increasing use of AI to gaslight and manipulate women and girls, amplifying harmful behaviors and instilling self-doubt. As an organization dedicated to promoting children's rights and well-being, we believe it is imperitave that we take a stand against any form of violence or discrimination against women and girls. It also highlights the urgent need to ensure women and girls are at the center of the humanitarian response to stop violence and gender-based discrimination. The Geneva Global Hub for Education in Emergencies warns that funding for education is under unprecedented strain. A staggering 234 million children in crisis need urgent support to access quality education (35 million more than 3 years ago) and over 85 million children are out of school. As the war in Ukraine enters its 4th year, ChildFund Alliance member Educo ONG has highlighted the urgent need for humanitarian assistance. Insufficient health services, family separation, and the destruction of infrastructure are having a detrimental impact on the wellbeing of children. Working in partnership with ChildFund Deutschland and Smart Osvita, Educo is focused on ensuring children and young people can continue their studies, while also receiving essential psychosocial support.
