It's been a busy time for CPC in the media! Our Executive Director, Doug Staley, was the guest speaker on an episode of 'I 501(c) You - The Podcast for NonProfit Board Members' hosted by Michael Corley with The Corley Company, LLC. In the episode, the discussion focuses on CPC's "remarkable transformation from facing financial uncertainty to becoming a thriving, respected nonprofit. Doug shares practical insights on strategic planning, board development, and the long-term vision that allowed CPC to navigate facility challenges, secure funding, and strengthen community impact." 关于我们
The mission of the Child Protection Center is the Prevention, Intervention and Treatment of Child Abuse. All of the Child Protection Center's services are provided through five distinct programs for children and families who suffer from the trauma of child abuse. These programs are: the Child Protection Team(CPT) which conducts medical examinations and forensic interviews for victims of alleged child abuse; the Sexual Abuse Treatment Program (SATP) which provides therapy for children, families and adult survivors who have suffered the trauma of sexual and physical abuse; the Personal Safety and Community Awareness Program (PSCA) which teaches children and adults the attitudes, skills and behaviors necessary to keep children safe; the Kid Kindness Program (KKP) which provides therapy for children who exhibit aggressive behavior and the Supervised Visitation Program (SVP) which facilitates court ordered visits between non-custodial parents and their children.

Our PAWS pet therapy program had a wonderful feature on our local news! The purpose of the program is to bring the comfort and companionship of trained therapy dogs to victims of child abuse in Sarasota and DeSoto Counties as they testify in court, during depositions, while in supervised visitations, or as part of their trauma-informed therapy sessions. We are so pleased to see this impactful program getting recognition in the community, particularly now as PAWS is celebrating its 15th anniversary of providing these services to local children. We couldn't be prouder or more grateful to this remarkable group of pups and their handlers. #therapydog?#therapyanimals?#therapy?#traumatherapy?#dogswithjobs

No child chooses this. We each hold the power- and responsibility- to make a positive difference for vulnerable children. ?? Educate yourself, your family, and your community. It's estimated that 95% of sexual abuse is preventable through education. Contact our Personal Safety Team at [email protected] to learn about CPC's 20+ free workshops available for caregivers, classrooms/camps, childcare professionals, and workplaces. ?? Pledge to be a safe adult for the children in your life. Pay careful attention to any warning signs or behaviors, be approachable, listen to and validate a child's concerns, and communicate with respect. ?? If you suspect abuse, make a report through the Florida Abuse Hotline at 1-800-962-2873 (or the abuse hotline for your state). ?? Volunteer with CPC or your local child advocacy center, mentorship programs, DV shelters, etc. These programs are dependent on the community's support to bring as many children as possible to safety. ?? Give organizations that work in the prevention, intervention, and treatment of child abuse your financial support if you are in a position to do so. Make donations, attend their fundraisers, and get your peers involved. ?? Advocate! Abuse thrives when we are silent. Have open, vulnerable, and difficult conversations with your family and community. #MissionMonday #WhyICPC #ChildAbuseAwareness

Today is Inspire Your Heart With Art Day! This is a day to remind us how art can touch our souls and make a lasting impact. Through art therapy with our clients, the butterfly mural on the front of our Sarasota offices, and the Avenue of Art that borders our property, we see firsthand the healing power of art. Today, we'd like to specifically highlight the Wings of Hope and Healing painting, which was generously created and donated for auction by the visionary Clara Reynardus de Villanueva. Incorporated into the delicate wings of this Blue Morpho butterfly are the handprints of child abuse survivors, clients, family members, and champions of the Child Protection Center. These handprints honor the journeys and energies of all who participated. The painting emulates how a child abuse victim transforms through the life-saving services offered at CPC. This piece now hangs in the lobby of our Campus of Healing in North Port (thanks to the generosity of the wonderful Graci McGillicuddy) where it brings hope and healing to all who see it. #WhyICPC #arttherapy?#artheals #stopchildabuse
