This week, we lost a true legend. Don Kleinfelder, the fearless leader of Child Advocates of Placer and Yuba Counties for 17 remarkable years, was more than a leader—he was the visionary founder and driving force behind our mission. His belief that every child deserves a safe, loving home shaped everything he did, and his impact will be felt for generations. From the moment he established the CASA program in 2004, Don dedicated himself to improving the lives of foster youth. He tirelessly expanded programs, forged vital partnerships, and led with passion and purpose. When the need arose to support families, Don didn’t hesitate. In 2010, he launched the Family Mentor program, ensuring parents had the resources to reunite with their children in safe, stable homes. His vision continued to grow, leading to the creation of the Family Services division in 2020. Don embodied the CASA mission, always seeking new ways to serve. In 2019, he introduced the Be Bold program to support victims of human trafficking, followed by the K-9 for Kids program, broadening the scope of our impact. In his memory, we are honored to establish the Don Kleinfelder Fund, ensuring programs like the Hero's Fund continue to grow and create meaningful impacts. ??For more information about this initiative, please visit our website at casaplacer.org We are also proud to introduce the Don Kleinfelder Heroes Award, an annual honor recognizing a volunteer, community partner, or individual who embodies Don's unwavering commitment to improving the lives of children and families in our community. This award celebrates the purpose and passion Don so deeply exemplified. It will be presented at one of his favorite events, the Evening of Hope Gala. Beyond his professional achievements, Don will be remembered for his warmth, humor, and the way he inspired everyone he met. Though his passing is a profound loss, we honor his legacy by carrying forward his passion and continuing his mission.
