Entrepreneurship and ownership: two things we wouldn't survive without!
Always a blast visiting Abilene Christian University. This time at Chapel for the Entrepreneurship program with my favorite person, Elyse Mascorro. Besides working with (or for) my rockstar wife on her recent side hustle reboot (which we also talked about a lot), I haven’t been actively involved in my own entrepreneurial venture in years. What did I have to share with the student of any relevance? One thing I’ve found interesting in building a team at Chike Nutrition is that many people I’ve hired have their own side businesses. It wasn’t on purpose… I just looked up a few years in and almost everyone on our fast-growing team had some personal passion they were also pursuing for additional income. I guess it just makes senses to find folks who are used to thinking about their job with an owner’s mindset. We’re not always great at it, but we strive to foster an ownership mindset—where everyone feels empowered to take charge of their area of responsibility and expertise. I guess this is some sort of intrapreneuship… close enough to count for the entrepreneurship chapel!
