Taking an innovative approach means taking ownership of the “why”. Chan Lee believes that’s why building in-house is such a priority for Chick-fil-A, Inc. “We build just about everything in-house. From my perspective, the more you outsource, the more you don’t understand your own strategy. We’re one of the only organizations in the country processing spatial data at this scale.”? ? — Chan Lee, Data and Visualization Team, Restaurant Development?? ? #GIS #SpatialData #LifeatChickfilAInc?

“We have a lot of really smart people working on hard problems. We're bringing in one-of-a-kind, cutting-edge tools. We're working toward having real-time data so that people can make more real time decisions. We're working on streaming data.? When we go to conferences and talk to vendors, we often find the solutions we need aren’t already out there. Usually, we’re the ones breaking new ground. We build the vast majority of our technology and solutions in-house, which is so exciting for me. I love building things.? ? At Chick-fil-A, Inc., there's a lot of opportunity to make individual contributions, and we have a lot of flexibility in terms of proposing projects or identifying new tools to solve business problems. There’s freedom to innovate. And there’s so much opportunity — more than you’ll find at other companies. There’s a tremendous amount of passion and resources around data.”? ? — Elizabeth Williams, Data Architecture Team ? #DataArchitecture?#Data?#LifeatChickfilAInc?

When Brittany Cook started Chick-fil-A's Leadership Development Program (LDP) back in 2021, she embarked on the journey with goals of growing herself and building meaningful connections. Joined by her husband Shane accompanying her across the country, Brittany served in leadership roles at numerous Chick-fil-A restaurant locations and even completed a staff rotation at the Chick-fil-A Corporate Support Center. Now as a Chick-fil-A Owner-Operator in Arkansas, Brittany reflects on what she loved most about her LDP experience. Michael Fisher, MBA shares what it’s like working in design within the Restaurant Development department at Chick-fil-A, Inc.??? ? Q: Describe an example of your projects?? ? When I first started in design, I focused on inclement weather solutions for restaurant Team Members. The restaurants’ business is primarily outside, with 60% of restaurant sales coming from Drive-Thru. So, when it snows in the Midwest or there’s heat in the Southeast, we needed to ensure Team Member well-being while serving guests.? ? My project focused on developing a suite of solutions to use during extreme weather conditions including cold weather shelters and mobile ordering points for the Drive-thru when team members were unable to work outside. The work required me to think innovatively to solve a variety of operational complexities.? ?? As a former restaurant Team Member myself, I have first-hand experience taking Drive-Thru orders outside while enduring extreme temperatures. So for this project, I loved putting my Team Member “hat” back on and ultimately showing care for the front-line team.? ? Q: What is your experience of the culture at Chick-fil-A, Inc.?? ? The culture of care here is very real. I feel tremendously cared for on a personal level, and I have especially experienced that as my wife and I became new parents this past year.? But I’m also cared for when it comes to aspects of the job like generous pay, competitive benefits and resources for professional growth. This past year, Chick-fil-A supported me as I earned a master’s degree in Service Design. The culture at Chick-fil-A is built on growth, but most importantly, care - and that inspires me to care for others even more.?? ? #ChickfilARestaurantDevelopment?#RestaurantAreaDesign?#ServiceDesign?

“Chick-fil-A, Inc. is very generous when it comes to its benefits for full-time employees because of how much it cares about its staff. I had the good fortune of being able to know and work with our founder, S. Truett Cathy, on occasion, and I remember him always saying that if you take care of your people, they’ll take care of you.? ? That’s been our entire approach to benefits. It’s all about caring.”? ? — Melissa Todd, Total Rewards Team? ? #LifeatChickfilAInc?#Benefits?#WorkFullofCare?

“In previous jobs in tech, I felt very disconnected from my work. I'd be working on a project, but I’d have no idea how it impacted anyone else — our customers or people in the business. But at Chick-fil-A, Inc., I can see my impact directly. I see how my work is affecting developers in the company, and therefore making an impact on customers too.” — Andira Putri, DevOps Tools Team, Tech ?#Tech??#SoftwareEngineer?#LifeatChickfilAInc???

“In the Coast Guard, I directed and participated in search and rescue missions on the coasts of California and Florida. Now, as a civilian working at Chick-fil-A’s corporate offices, I lead a team of customer service representatives who support guest inquiries.?? ?? Marine-based law enforcement to restaurant guest support? Yes! Two different objectives, but the heart behind the work is the same – it’s all about helping people.?? ?? In the Coast Guard, I loved how purpose-filled the work felt. Out on the water, or in the Command Center, I knew that through the missions we completed together, we were protecting people and enforcing safety. It was so satisfying to me.?? ?? Similarly, here at Chick-fil-A, Inc., one of our core values, “We are Purpose Driven,” inspires me to rally around the meaning behind my work. I know that as my team resolves guest needs across the country, we are impacting the Guest, the Chick-fil-A franchisee Owner-Operator and even the local community. And we are doing that across thousands of restaurant locations.? ?? Back in the Coast Guard, I had a sense of camaraderie with my peers and leaders that was deeply fulfilling. My wife was also in the Coast Guard; we loved that chapter in our lives, but we were ready to settle down.?? ?? Coming back to Georgia was a natural homecoming for us, and I’ve been grateful to have quickly built that same sense of connection with my peers and leaders at Chick-fil-A. We support each other professionally, and we care about each other personally.?? ?? I’m also connected to a group of veterans here who regularly meet up for lunch. There’s a good and growing veteran community here, and I would encourage other veterans to consider Chick-fil-A ‘s Corporate Support Center as a great place to grow their career too!”? ? - Brandon Belveal, Chick-fil-A, Inc. After leaving the Coast Guard, Brandon Belveal wasn't sure if he would find the purpose-filled work he had in the service. In his role with the Support Now Team, he is still driven by his Coast Guard purpose: helping people. At Chick-fil-A, Inc., he has also found a community of veterans who share his devotion to military and civilian service.

“The tech world is well-known for burning people out. There’s very little care for the individual — for their career path or their growth. The focus is on finding people to write as much code as possible.? ? That is not how it works at Chick-fil-A, Inc. And I think that inspires us to do our best work, because we know that we’re cared for and valued by our company — not just for the code that we can write or the things that we can get done, but for the ideas that we bring.?? ? There’s also a recognition that we have a life that is more than our job. Certainly, our work is a large part of our lives, but it doesn’t define them. We have families. We’re parents. And that’s embraced. There’s a sense that you can bring your whole self to work.”? ? — Jonathan Melville, Supply Chain Transformation, Tech? ? #WorkingParent?#Tech?#LifeatChickfilAInc?
