This Saturday, our LTI Fellows gathered to reflect on the critical issue of?Educational Equity?and strategize for meaningful change in our communities.
?
The session focused on addressing the systemic disparities that Chicana/o & Latina/o students face across K-12 schools, community colleges, and universities. Fellows gained valuable insights into the barriers to quality education and explored impactful strategies to:
??Advocate for policies that promote equitable access.
??Support reforms that enhance educational opportunities.
??Champion initiatives that foster student success and dismantle systemic inequities.
?
Education is a cornerstone of opportunity, yet too many in our communities face obstacles that limit their potential. By tackling these challenges head-on, our Fellows are not just raising awareness—they're laying the groundwork for transformative advocacy.
?
A special thank you to our incredible presenters and leaders already championing this work:
??Dr. Star Rivera-Lacey, PhD-Lacey, Superintendent/President, Palomar Community College District
??Gloria Corral, President & Chief Executive Officer, Parent Institute for Quality Education (PIQE)
??Dr. Edward Abeyta, Ph.D. Abeyta, Associate Dean for Education and Community Outreach, University of California San Diego
??Richard Barrera, Senior Policy Adviser, California Department of Education
?
Together, we’re reimagining education to ensure every student has the tools and opportunities to thrive.???
