Introducing Behind the Sails ??of the Foundation We're excited to introduce Francesca, our amazing Program Manager, this week! A lifelong sailor, past volunteer, and now dedicated staff member, Francesca brings a wealth of passion and experience to our team. She has helped expand our community programs and is a former CPS K-12 special education teacher and PsyD (School Psychology) student! Francesca's journey with the Chicago Yacht Club Foundation began as a volunteer, driven by her love for the water and her belief in making boating accessible to all. Now, as the program manager, she is helping us navigate our mission to bring the joys and benefits of sailing to youth from underrepresented communities across Chicago. ?? ?? On this Women's Equality Day, we're celebrating the strength, resilience, and connections forged by the incredible young women in our CYCF Lead HER Ship program. In partnership with the Inland Seas Education Association, the program provided leadership training via a five-day cruise aboard a tall ship for nine young women ages 14-18. "When first boarding, I was worried about not making any connections. But looking back, I was wrong. I'm lucky to have connected with my bunkmates and new friends." These young leaders are breaking barriers and building bonds that will last a lifetime. Since 1923, Chicago Yacht Club & The Foundation have been dedicated to marine education for youth ages 14-21. Our partnership teaches essential life skills such as teamwork, respect for the environment, decision-making, problem-solving, and self-reliance.
