Did you know that Women's History Month began in 1987 when March was declared the official month to recognize the achievements of American women? We join Acting President Nora Leerhsen this month and every month as we recognize the women of #teamCTA that keep Chicago moving.
Each year, I look forward to celebrating women in March and I am especially excited that, today, women are changing the game in transportation.?Across the state, women are leaders in the field. The women of #TeamCTA manage construction projects, operate buses and trains, turn wrenches, assist customers, hire and train employees, guide innovation, argue legal cases, plan bus routes, support administrators, provide clerk services at our bus garages and rail terminals, and help to keep employees and customers safe and informed, among many, many other roles. Every day, women at our agency are breaking barriers and glass ceilings, assuming roles that women have never held and achieving things no one at our agency has ever accomplished. Women’s history is made every day and I hope you’ll join me in celebrating Women’s History Month throughout March, just as we are across the Chicago Transit Authority.
