Last week, Chicago Public Library announced and unveiled the 2024 One Book, One Chicago selection, Tomorrow, and Tomorrow, and Tomorrow by Gabrielle Zevin, alongside City of Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson and community partners. Patrons were welcomed with unique experiences all inspired by themes from the novel including arcade machines, dance, music and spoken-word performances, and much more. One Book, One Chicago runs from now till December with the keynote conversation with Gabrielle Zevin taking place on November 14 at 6 pm at Harold Washington Library Center. We kicked off the Democratic National Convention in Chicago with a People Powered Policy Panel featuring City of Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson! Mayor Johnson opened the program speaking on the Public Options Platform and what it entails. The well-attended discussion was moderated by Sylvia Ewing, VP of Marketing and Communications at Slipstream, and included remarks from Ruha Benjamin, Professor at Princeton University, Sociologist and author, and Dorian Warren, Co-President of Community Change and Founder and Chair of the Economic Security Project, all speaking on the People's Pathway to access and Employment through Public Options. The event was in partnership with S. Mayumi “Umi” Grigsby, Chief of Policy at the Office of the Mayor, who was also on the panel.
