After 3.5 incredible years as Senior Manager, Learning Strategy on United Airlines' Global Learning team, I’m thrilled to have embarked on a new chapter as a Performance Coach on our Employee Relations team! Reflecting on my time in Global Learning, I feel immense gratitude for the bright, passionate, and inspiring colleagues I’ve had the privilege to work with. Together, we’ve built impactful learning experiences that have empowered employees across United. The collaborations, innovations, and friendships have made this journey truly unforgettable. The HNBA Latina Commission is proud to spotlight Commissioner Noeli Serna.?She is the Founding Attorney of Serna Legal Services in Chicago, Illinois.?This is Noeli’s third year as a Latina Commissioner, and this year she will oversee the Awards & External Relations Committee. ? Noeli is the daughter of an entrepreneurial Latine family and saw first-hand the challenges and sacrifices of entrepreneurs.?She grew up at the family restaurant, which contributed to her interest in business law. Her formative years in the family business eventually led her to the practice of corporate law as a former finance attorney turned in-house corporate counsel turned legal counsel to deserving small and mid-sized businesses.? ? ?????? A Promising Start to a Semester-Long #Marketing Research Journey! Yesterday, my Marketing Research class had the privilege of hosting Jesse Rutschman as our guest speaker. Jesse introduced Strengthsbase, his innovative platform, and provided valuable insights into the power of strengths-based development. He also highlighted the critical role of #MarketingResearch in shaping effective and impactful solutions. This semester, my students will have the unique opportunity to work directly with Strengthsbase, applying real-world research methodologies to uncover key insights and develop strategic recommendations. This hands-on experience will allow them to bridge theory with practice, enhancing their analytical skills while contributing to a meaningful project. A special thank you to Jessica Mueller, for making this opportunity possible and for sharing her expertise and inspiration. Why don't they tell us about this on the news? At a recent community meeting, I shared some eye-opening stats: * Latinos contribute $7.1 billion to Washington State’s economy through spending and taxes, according to the Latino Community Fund Of Washington State. * Nationwide, Latinos add $3.5 trillion to the U.S. economy. *Latinx-owned businesses in Oregon have grown by 144%! I’m partnering with a foundation to launch an event to help Latino funders access unrestricted funding. I visited this club to ask for their support. So why isn’t this data front and center on TV? Here’s my take: showcasing the economic power of Latinos isn’t always in the best interest of those controlling the narrative. That’s why it’s important to seek out and share data highlighting Latinos' vital role in the U.S. economy. Stay informed!
