So psyched to celebrate the incomparable, Duke Ellington! Mark your calendars for February 8! See you there! #ArtEducation #MusicHeals #CJP #DukeEllington #ArtsForAll
As Chicago Jazz Philharmonic celebrates its 20th Anniversary and Black History Month, the arts organization marks 50 years since the death of cultural icon, musician, composer, arranger and conductor Duke Ellington with the world premiere of Ellingtonia. This concert celebrates the music, grace, dignity and royalty of Duke Ellington and his orchestra. Named after the compilation album that spanned Duke Ellington’s career – from his first recording session in July 1923 to his last concert in March 1974, Ellingtonia takes place at the Kehrein Center for the Arts, 5628 W. Washington Blvd., in Chicago, IL, on Saturday, February 8 at 1 pm & 7 pm. Due to the generosity of Chicago Jazz Philharmonic funders, tickets are $1/person. While the program will include Duke Ellington’s greatest hits along with arrangements of his sacred music, Praise, Come Sunday, and Tell Me the Truth, audiences will experience Ellington’s music majesty in new and unexpected ways.
