It sure was a great day for all!

A visit to the Chicago Fire Department's Engine 29 yesterday immediately brought me back to the smell of when my dad would come home from the firehouse when we were growing up. Some things change, but the smell of rubber boots and heavy duty jackets covered in soot and stale smoke seems to stay the same. It also reminded me of the bravery that CFD face every day and how lucky we were that our dad returned home safely each day. My dad and his brother and sisters weren't as fortunate when his father, Lt. William Quinn and fellow firefighter Martin Dyer, were taken too soon in a warehouse fire on Feb. 13, 1971. Thanks to all the first responders and their families out there every day. Thanks to Chief Francisco Velez, George Mac and all the incredible men and women of the Chicago Fire Department for the time spent with our team yesterday and sharing these stories from the archives with me to help remember the stories of those who have gone on. #chicagofiredepartment #GoldBadgeFamilies

Simulated drills are an important part of a strong safety program in diverse industries, including #constructionmanagement. It was great to see the Chicago Fire Department utilize the former Chicago Tribune Freedom Center building on the new Bally's Chicago construction site for training purposes!
