National Women’s History Month is observed in the month of March in the United States, as designated in 1987 by the U.S. Congress, in recognition of women’s many accomplishments throughout history. Various agencies, schools, and organizations observe the month by focusing on the “consistently overlooked and undervalued” role of American women in history. Libraries and communities promote special events that emphasize the achievements of women. Similar monthlong observances occur in other countries as well.

Today the Chesterfield County Sheriff’s Office held a promotion ceremony to recognize the tireless efforts of two Deputies: Master Deputy Raqib promoted to Sergeant and Career Deputy Reid also promoted to Sergeant. The ceremony included the awarding of their promotional certificates and the pinning of their new insignias by their family members. We would like to congratulate them for their dedication to the Sheriff’s Office, and we wish them well in their new assignments.

Yesterday, the Chesterfield County Sheriff’s Office had the privilege of speaking to 8th-grade homeschool students at Kingsland Baptist Church as they prepared for a mock trial. Each student was assigned a specific role in the exercise, and Deputy Seals participated by serving mock witness subpoenas to enhance the experience. We sincerely thank Kingsland Baptist Church for the opportunity to help students gain a deeper understanding of the legal process and the role of the Sheriff’s Office in the justice system. #CommunityEngagement #LegalEducation #ChesterfieldSheriff

The Chesterfield County Sheriff’s Office mourns with our brothers and sisters of the Virginia Beach Police Department over the line of duty deaths of two of their officers shot in the line of duty late last night, Friday, February 21, 2025. They are unable to share much information at this time, as it is still an active investigation. They ask for your patience and understanding as they work to put the pieces of this tragic event together, make notifications, and grieve the loss of two of their own. Our thoughts and prayers are with the families and the Virginia Beach Police Department.
